The Buccaneer is making history. For the first time, we have expanded our 340-acre estate with the addition of The Buccaneer Beach House at Whistle Point, debuting on January 4, 2013. And it's not just one house. It also includes two cottages and a villa-style master suite, creating a six-bedroom enclave surrounded by sea and gardens. The Beach House is located on a point just a short walk from the resort, overlooking our secluded Whistle Beach, Buck Island, sloping verdant mountains and the Caribbean Sea. With the ambiance of a private island-within-an-island, the main house features two en suite bedrooms, a full kitchen and a spacious living room with a half moon-shaped wrap-around terrace. An adjacent master suite villa includes a sitting area and a sunken bedroom facing the sea and Buck Island.

One cottage features two bedrooms, and the second cottage is a one-bedroom with a kitchen. The Buccaneer Beach House can comfortably accommodate family reunions, wedding parties and corporate retreats. Smaller families, singles and couples can choose the Main House, master suite or cottages separately. Guests at The Buccaneer Beach House at Whistle Point enjoy the resort's services and amenities.

Swimmers Win in St. Croix
The October 17th annual Coral Reef Swim was one of our most successful ever. The Swim is now one of America's leading swim competitions and, with the venerable Ironman 70.3 Triathlon, enhances St. Croix's reputation for serious sports travel. Our own Elizabeth Armstrong, The Buccaneer's owner and general manager, founded the swim, which is open to all levels and ages of swimmers. This year, more than 150 swimmers raced through turquoise waters and coral reefs to the finish line at our palm-lined beach. Swim winners included Olympic champions, former members of the U.S. National Team, swim teams from throughout the U.S., and St. Croix locals. Winners received "trophies" of custom glass sculptures hand-crafted by St. Croix artist Jan Mitchell, and several varieties of local rum. Proceeds benefit the protection of coral reefs off St. Croix's shore. Next year's swim is October 13, 2013.

A spectacular year! The Buccaneer wins two of the travel industry's top resort awards
With pride and joy, we share the good news of The Buccaneer winning two of the highest honors in the travel industry. The combined thousands of readers of Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler magazines have named The Buccaneer among the best resorts in the Caribbean. In September, we were rated the #1 family resort in the USVI by Travel + Leisure magazine's 2012 World's Best Awards readers' survey. In the same survey, the readers named us 4th best Caribbean-wide. And just this month, we were named one of the top 30 resorts in the Caribbean by readers of Conde Nast Traveler in its annual Best in the World awards. Visit us soon and see what the buzz is all about. We look forward to welcoming you. |

Martel makeover
An inspiration for our swashbuckling name (The Buccaneer) comes from the legend of one of the Caribbean's most enterprising 17th century pirates, Charles Martel. He sailed our waters and favored our beaches when European countries

battled for possession of our beautiful island. Now a safe and secure island in America's paradise, St. Croix and The Buccaneer welcome visitors from throughout the world to our refurbished Martel Lounge.
Located just off The Terrace restaurant, Martel commands the finest seaside views of magnificent sunsets, and offers menus of small plates beginning at 5 p.m., and the option for dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Nightly entertainment is in full swing during the upcoming season.
