Reaching Goals Together: Teen Fitness Camp
|

The Rye YMCA is proud to offer the Rye Y Teen Fitness Camp for participants between the ages of 11 to 14 years old with an interest in fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Teens learn how to use the Fitness Center, get to know their trainers and have the opportunity to build friendships with other participants. We sat down with Peter Lopez, Rye Y personal trainer and coordinator of the Teen Fitness Camp, to discuss the upcoming summer.
Q: What skills does the camp promote?
A (Peter Lopez): Participants build a foundation of basic training and learn fundamental bodyweight exercises. This helps our teens transition into safe practices for individualized exercise. The camp encourages camaraderie and helps teens build confidence in and out of the fitness world.
Q: What are some highlights of the program that participants enjoy the most?
A: We offer several demonstrations of classes and activities that are at the Rye Y. These include: spinning, yoga, swimming, pilates, Zumba, and kickboxing (a very popular demo among the participants). This summer, we'll introduce participants to the ExerZone where they'll use the interactive equipment to work on agility, endurance, and cognitive skills - all while having fun! We also spend time outdoors while engaging in other physical activities. Read more.
