Winter Activities for the Spirit and Mind
by Penny Cozza, Wellness Program Assistant & Active Older Adult Advocate
|

Brrr! Winter is here! But that doesn't mean you have to hibernate. Come to the Y to create crafts, join a book club, and catch up with friends! The newly formed Crafty Crew group meets on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to noon and we have all types of fun planned for the year. During our start-up project - 'Warm Up America' -members knitted and crocheted rectangles that were sewn together to make warm blankets for a local shelter.
February is heart month and we'll be covering heart pillow forms with soft fleece for patients at White Plains Hospital. Please register at Member Services to join this fun project, which is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16 at 10:30 am ($5 material fee). Other weeks, you can bring your own projects. Don't worry if you don't know how to knit or crochet; we'll teach you! Prefer reading over crafts? Our first Rye YMCA book club will begin on Friday, February 12 at 10:30 am to noon, free to members. Bring your friends and help us decide on our first monthly selection. Going forward, the book club will meet monthly on the second Friday of the month. Please contact pennycozza@ryeymca.org for more information.
