 YAZ AND YASMIN CLAIMS ARE SETTLING

Bayer AG the makers of Yasmin have paid out more than $402 million dollars in settlements for women who have developed blood clots after taking the birth control pills.  To date, nearly 1,900 cases have been resolved with an average payout of $212,000 per claim.

 The FDA ordered Bayer to beef up its warnings about the danger of blood clots in April.  Yasmin contains a synthetic hormone called drospirenone that researchers have found can triple the risk for blood clots.
