Another great summer, beautiful weather, little rain and perfect boating conditions. It was great to see so many of our guests enjoying themselves on and off the water.

We are constantly looking for ways to spoil our valued guests and those who have visited the marina recently will have noticed a few changes. Two wonderful new stainless steel sculptures have been purchased and have already proved a big hit with both the public and our customers. More about that in the story below. A new floating water fountain has also been added in front of The Deck Café.

Another new addition is the Kayak/Paddleboard Storage area, which has been relocated to A Dock adjacent to the new Dolphin Lounge, Boat Shed and General Store.

We look forward to welcoming all our game fishers to the marina in the next few weeks for the NSWGFA Interclub, and wish them all the very best for a very successful tournament. As usual a complimentary breakfast will be served to our fishers each day of the game fish competition

Hope to see you all soon and happy boating.

Marina Pledges a Further Three Year Commitment and $60,000 to Support Local Students
Soldiers Point Marina is very proud to announce the continuation of sponsorship for Year 10 students from Tomaree High School and St Philips Christian College on the Tomaree Peninsula involved in the Real Futures Program.

Support of $60,000 including student scholarships and another three year commitment to the Real Futures Program ensures our local students are gaining an employment advantage and assists them to make an easier transition from school to the workplace.

“The $50,000 funding supports many strategies currently in place such as Ready for Work Programs, Industry Workshops and Work Experience to enable students to gain as much hands on experience as possible before entering the work force. Additionally, $10,000 for student scholarships will fund items such as books or tools etc for selected candidates” said Marina Manager Darrell Barnett CMM.

“We are thrilled to be in the position to continue to contribute in such a positive way to our local youth and look forward to following their progress” said Mr Barnett.

Our Stunning New Sculptures for the Marina
Would Like a Name

Pictured with creator, Mike Van Dam
The marina has recently purchased two stunning sculptures from Queensland based welder Mike Van Dam. Constructed from 4mm marine grade stainless steel chain in easy handling lengths of 1.5m, the links are welded together to form an extremely tough and sturdy piece of art.

Competition: We're looking for some interesting/funny/clever names for our two new chain link sculptures, and would love to hear your creative suggestions.

The Chain sculpture weighing 240kg, is made up of 950 metres of chain with 47,500 links and was completed in approximately 450hrs. The sculpture is displayed alongside the chess tables on Sunset Beach adjacent to the marina.

The Mother and Calf Dolphins located in the Dolphin Lounge on “A” Dock, took approximately 250 hrs to complete. This sculpture weighs 60 kg and has 240 metres of chain with 12,000 links.

The Deck Café/Waterfront Bar – THANK YOU

The entire staff at The Deck would like to thank all those who attended a special “Greek Night” to raise funds for Harry, a close family member who suffers from a rare tissue cancer, and is receiving treatment at Westmead Hospital in Sydney.

“It was a really great night, it was like all the guests were from one family, they all got into the spirit of things, we raised a lot of money and I would say it’s the best Greek Night ever” said owner Bambos Pappas.

Wonderful news now, Harry is doing very well and on a recent visit to the marina had a smile as big as the hearts of the Pappas family.

Another Greek night with live music will be held soon, please contact The Deck for more details.
