At a planetarium in Chapel Hill in the year 2000, I saw a program about the Star of Bethlehem theorizing that the Wise Men (astrologers) followed a team-up of the two planets that shine most brightly in our night sky: Venus and Jupiter. This happens from time to time - not often - and only very rarely in the neighborhood of Regulus. The highest magnitude star in the constellation Leo, it goes by the nickname "heart of the lion" and is a seasonal marker for mid-summer. Jupiter as the biggest planet signals large size. Venus of course is the planet of love. Together with Regulus, they spell "king of the big heart." Doesn't this make sense as the harbinger of the birth of Jesus? If such a combination recurs, might it mean all of us will open our hearts and be more regal? We may find out this summer as these three celestial signposts have a reunion.

Though this grouping is quite rare, there have been at least two or three repetitious of this combination since two millennia ago, most recently in 1991. But the next one isn't until the year 2501, in almost 500 years.

Of course, this is the topic of my first blog at my re-vamped website.
Time for Luck in Love and Finances
It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!

Ancient astrologers called Venus and Jupiter the "prime benefics," meaning the major do-ers of good. When they join forces, expect markets to rise along with spending. It may be there is "too much of a good thing" - which Mae West claimed "can be wonderful!" Venus is the planet of money while Jupiter is affiliated with good fortune and a large outreach. When these two merge their energies, good things happen. Since they're getting together in the "fixed" sign of Leo, persistence and creativity pay off.

Look at your chart to see where Leo is, especially the 20+ degree range where the action is this summer. This department of your life is slated for improvement and benefits. Matters associated with this house should expand in favorable ways.

If you know some astrology and would like to explore this conjunction in more depth, see the article in the Advanced Topics of my new Study Booth.

The 2015 Venus Jupiter Triple Conjunction

Note the New Look
Like Night and Day

For almost fifteen years, my website had a bright, sunny look - very easy on the eyes. It's time for a modern, mobile-device friendly, fresh look, so I decided to use one that reflects the night sky at my birth. At the darkest hour before dawn, as the saying goes, the nearly full moon had just set and Jupiter was in the southwestern sky. This image's beauty speaks to me!

LOOKING UP in July
Jam-Packed July & August

July is busy with TWO full moons, one today and a second one on the 31st, a "blue moon." (I will write you again before then.) The July show on Looking Up covers two months since August is re-run month at the station. So I've packed a lot into 28 minutes, including a discussion of Venus and Jupiter as well as Venus's retrograde. I could've used another 28 minutes to tell you about the very interesting birthdays of the USA and President Obama. Perhaps in a future blog.

I hope you enjoy the Full Moon, Venus and Jupiter AND the Fourth of July!
