The holiday season has come and gone - hope that yours was good and that your new year is progressing well. Does it seem like time is flying just as fast in 2014 as it did last year? Lately I've wondered if it's that or just everything seems to take longer to accomplish than it should!
At this Capricorn part of the year, we become very aware of time. Capricorn's ruling planet, Saturn, is often depicted as Old Man Time or the guy with the sickle at the end of the old year. Before the discovery of Pluto (now tapped as the planet of death), Saturn was the boogeyman; his sickle was that of the Grim Reaper. Still seen as a strict taskmaster, Saturn reminds us of our mortality and the finite time we have on this earthly plane of four dimensions and karma.
So as the clock tick-tick-ticks by in the twinkling of an eye, what does Saturn want us to learn this year? As usual, its lesson plan includes discipline, maturity, responsibility and respect. To the max, since Saturn's in Scorpio, the sign of extremes.
Saturn has been in Scorpio since fall of 2012 and remains there for most of 2014. It's the sign Pluto rules, so the tone is mostly serious. Saturn loves order. It's happy when everything has a place and is in it. Pluto is all about taking out the garbage. Thus the theme of getting our lives in ship-shape continues. Together, they want us to streamline systems and get rid of what doesn't work. Pluto and Scorpio are both associated with finances, investment, insurance, credit and banking. These are areas for our clean-up activities in 2014, individually and collectively. Maybe when Saturn enters Sagittarius on Dec. 23, then we'll be ready for some fun. (Sounds like a long way off, but you know how time flies!)
Capricorn imbues a matter-of-fact and down-to-earth energy, thick-skinned and cold-shouldered. But when the Full Moon rolls around in the opposite sign, Cancer, emotions pour forth and the urge to merge and bond, to be with one's tribe, peaks! With Jupiter not far away, also in Cancer, this tendency is magnified. Did you happen to see this pair high in the night sky? They're riding near the top edge of the zodiac beltway. Magnificent!
The Full Moon in Cancer (the sign it rules) is a strong force, prompting us to nurture ourselves. This is echoed with the potent connection of the Sun and Moon at the Full Moon with dwarf planet Ceres (goddess of fertility and the harvest ), halfway between them in the circle of signs. It's truly time to feed our soul.

Hints at April Grand Cross
The Sun and Moon are at high degrees of the signs they're in (Capricorn and Cancer, respectively). They don't really get involved with a bigger pattern that's starting to shape up midway through the same signs. Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Cancer, a planet of extremes and a planet of amplification, respectively, spend a lot of the first half of 2014 across from one another, bringing matters to a head. Since Uranus (which loves to shake things up!) is midway between them and forms a stressful T-square pattern with them, we'll be on a wild roller coaster ride. They are roughly moving into this configuration now but will reach exact connections April 20-23, when Mars aligns properly with them to make a "Grand Cross," the toughest set-up in astrology. Their showdown is at the degree where the USA has its Sun (from our July 4, 1776 "birthday"), so as a nation, we're likely to experience a crossroads or a turning point. There will be a lot of pressure on our leader, our President, represented by our Sun.
Some of the tensions evident now, in the news and in our personal lives, are likely to be front and center in three months. Having that astrological heads up, think about what you want to head off at the pass now in order to be on top of come April.
This is a topic I discuss in depth in the Janet's Plan-its Celestial Planner 2014 Astrology Calendar. I also provide several ways you can apply the broad information specifically to your chart. Order either the print or ebook version now, if you don't already have access to Janet's Plan-its - like having your astrologer at your fingertips!

New Year, New Tricks for an Old Dog
For the past two to three weeks, I've been up to my (crossed) eyeballs trying to create a 2014 Janet's Plan-its ebook. Finally, I succeeded and it's being sold now as a Kindle book on Amazon .At checkout, enter coupon code FULLMOON to get $2.98 off, a savings of over 15%. The discount will be reflected there and at the final payment page, where the shipping will be added. While the current supply lasts, the shipping is very speedy. I usually send out an order with 2 business days.. A big learn curve hill to climb! Anyway, for those of you who are e-readers, the ebook is handy when you're on the go. The price of $8.99 is a nice savings, less than half of the print version's list price. (It's possible Amazon may offer a print and ebook combo. I'm not in charge of that!)
If you don't have a Kindle, you can download a Kindle reading app for free. And if you haven't tried an ebook before, you might want to give it a whirl. Old dogs can learn new tricks. I'm living proof.
I've really been trying to go Cyber and enter the 21st Century. I got an iPhone last summer and soon I'll have one of those QR scan codes to whisk mobile searchers to my website. I even have a YouTube video in the works. Yikes! Stay tuned.

TV show, free downloads AND print Calendar discount
An easy way to learn about 2014 and its impact on you is to check out the two most recent episodes of LOOKING UP, my local cable TV show which focus on the new year. The Dec. 2013 show is entitled, of course, 2014 Forecast, and the Jan 2014 show is called New Year for YOU They are each about a half hour long (with no commercials) and you can watch them any time on your computer from this archive.
Something I like to keep handy is the free PDF of retrogrades and New and Full Moons for the year, Janet's Plan-its 2014 On a Page. Even if you have the print version of Janet's Plan-its, print this out. Sometimes it's easier to grab a single page than open to a page in a book.
Many of you took advantage of the pre-production discount offered over Thanksgiving weekend or the Early Bird Special leading up to Friday, the thirteenth of December. Luckily, there are still some worms left for the late birds and I'm giving a break to the people who didn't order early with a little Full Moon special.
At checkout, enter coupon code FULLMOON to get $2.98 off, a savings of over 15%. The discount will be reflected there and at the final payment page, where the shipping will be added. While the current supply lasts, the shipping is very speedy. I usually send out an order with 2 business days. This offer is good through Jan. 20, 2014.
