Mountain States first conference to license pastor in same-sex relationship

After a year-long process, the leadership board of the Mountain States Mennonite Conference reached unanimous consensus to accept and affirm the recommendation of the ministerial council to license Theda Good for continuing ministry at First Mennonite Church, Denver.

 

Much of the process centered around the consideration of a person whose gifts and call to ministry are clearly affirmed yet is in a committed same-sex relationship--which is at variance from denominational statements ...

But Lapp, a junior from Goshen, and Godshall, a freshman from Lancaster, Pa., might never have become friends if not for a new student-led initiative called Campus Connections ...

Photo: Mentoring partners were encouraged to take a photo together every time they hung out and submit their photos for a raffle drawing. By early December, Campus Connections had collected over 90 photos.
