Family loses home in tornado

The Zehr family, who live about one mile north of Washington, Ill., lost their home in the major storm that struck the Midwest on Nov. 17. On Nov. 20, the Zehrs received help from friends and family who brought tractors and backhoes to help clear the debris.

One hundred and fifty years ago, in the midst of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday.
