Pacific Southwest Conference to invest $550,000 in ministry, new staff positions

Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference delegates discussed a $550,000 investment in ministry at their assembly in Pasadena, Calif., Feb. 1-2.

"We have been holding on to these reserve funds of over $500,000 for several years," said Brian Fry on Feb. 10. "We are discussing the concept of investing those funds in mission and ministry."

The three-year investment in mission includes: $160,000 in a budget reserve fund; $225,000 for three staff positions; $100,000 to church planting grants; and $65,000 to the Los Angeles Anabaptist Center Seed Fund ...

Speaker scheduled for Phoenix 2013 dies Feb. 9

Richard Twiss died on Feb. 9. Twiss was slated to speak in Phoenix on July 1 at the opening adult worship service of Mennonite Church USA's biennial convention.
 
Twiss, 58, of Vancouver, Wash., a member of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate from the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, passed away Feb. 9, 2013, after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week in Washington, D.C. He was slated to speak in Phoenix on July 1 at the opening adult worship service of Mennonite Church USA's biennial convention ...
