Synod Assembly

+Bishop Jon V. Anderson

I am thankful for the renewed call to serve as this synod's bishop.  I have many thoughts about the journey and where I see us being called forward.  Today I want to say thank you to all the people who led the process, our Nominating Committee, our Election Committee, Synod Council, Deans, Conference Chair people, staff people and all who participated in the assembly and
pre-assembly forums.

Of course I want to also thank my colleagues who were part of the process of being open to this call. I learned much from each of them and I came to know them better in the journey through the process.  May God bless Pr. Paul Lutter, Pr. Laurie Skow-Anderson, Pr. Steve Olson, Pr. Lyle Snyder, Pr. Tim Wittwer in their current calls and future.

I also want to particularly thank Tammy Sather who serves as the support person for the Office of Bishop and our Synod Vice President Gwen Arneson, Curtis Ghylin (Synod Exec. Committee Member)  and Margaret Yackel -Juleen (chair of the Synod Nominating Committee) for their service and leadership in this process.

I want to thank our whole synod staff team including our conference ministers for their leadership and hard work in the synod assembly.  It is something to watch the gathering come together under their persistent and conscientious leadership and service.

Thanks to all the volunteers, workshop leaders and all who contributed in any way to help our synod assembly remind us all that "We are Church Together." We are all called to build up God's Church to move forward our mission of loving all our neighbors and proclaiming the Good News that drives that love that we know most deeply in our gracious Lord Jesus Christ.
