Superintendent's
Lake Park students consistently earn academic, athletic and activity-based accolades that I am proud to share in each issue. Our Lancer community has countless opportunities year-round to excel both inside and outside the classroom. We are grateful these student opportunities exist thanks to the leadership of the seven community members who serve on the Board of Education. With careful recommendations from our administration and business office, the Board makes important decisions that guide the district's financial stability. In March, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released a statewide report highlighting school finances and ratings. Each district is categorized based on its Annual Financial Report from FY 2015, which ended June 30. Based on the findings, Lake Park achieved a profile score of "Financial Recognition" which is designated by ISBE as the highest category of financial strength based on five performance indicators. On a 4.0 scale, Lake Park earned a score of 3.9 and is counted amount the 568 districts who received the Financial Recognition status. The Board's commitment to annually maintaining a balanced budget contributes to the sound financial management and future of the district. Detailed information about the 2016 School District Financial Profile Report is available on ISBE's website. Additionally, Lake Park's website features historical documents including audit reports and annual school budgets that are available for access. Universally, school districts are faced with how to respond to more federal and state mandates at a time with less funding. I commend our leadership team for continuing to propose fiscally-responsible recommendations that are student-focused and in the best interest of teaching and learning.

Grease is the Word!
Lake Park's spring musical will be rockin' and rolling as the double cast, including both students and faculty, will be presented in the East Campus Dice Auditorium. Tickets are $7 for adults; $5 for students; and senior citizens, children under 13 and LP students with an ID are free.
Meet Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "T-Birds" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin," "Hopelessly Devoted to You," and "You're the One that I Want."
The Theatre Department presents Grease:
April 28 7:00 p.m. (Student cast)
April 29 7:00 p.m. (Faculty cast)
April 30 2:00 & 7:00 p.m. (Student cast)
May 1 1:00 p.m. (Faculty cast) & 6:00 p.m. (Student cast)
