Superintendent's
Next week marks the end of the third quarter already, which means the final weeks of the school year are approaching quickly! We are excited about the numerous opportunities to honor the achievements of the Class of 2016 and recognize the successes of all students. Concurrently, this time of year also involves much planning and preparation for the 2016-2017 school year. I am sharing some key dates to help families plan for the spring and summer months ahead. Prom will be hosted on Saturday, May 21; online ticket sales will be held on Saturday, April 30. Graduation will be celebrated on Thursday, May 26 at the Sears Center Arena in Hoffman Estates. The Lake Park Educational Foundation will sell commencement box suites on Tuesday, April 26. Families will begin receiving information in April about summer school opportunities for bridging or transitional purposes, credit completion, and enrichment. Summer school is divided into two sessions:
Session I, June 13-30
Session II, July 11-28Online registration for next school year will open on Monday, June 20 and remain open until Thursday, August 4. The 24/7 access of this system, which also reflects real-time access to fees owed, allows families to enroll at their convenience. A mailing in early June will explain more details, provide a PIN number, and publish a list of walk-in dates and times to assist families and provide computer access. Prior to the start of school, book distribution and orientation dates are scheduled for August 8-10. Lake Park will welcome the Class of 2020 at the annual Freshman Family BBQ on Thursday, August 11 and the return of all students for the first day of classes on Wednesday, August 17. The final months of this school year create positive momentum for next, and we look forward to sharing more details with you about these upcoming programs and opportunities. Please continue to access the school calendars on the district website for the most up-to-date information.

Hoops for Heart Fundraising Underway for March 22 Event
Since 1998, Lake Park's Physical Education Department has been raising money for the American Heart Association through a nationally sponsored event called Hoops for Heart. All monies raised for this annual event are donated to the American Heart Association for research in the fight against heart disease. The format of a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in 2004 helped to increase participation and generate more enthusiasm from the student body. In its first year of the new format, Lake Park raised $1,946.75. Since 2004, the P.E. Department has raised $95.775.00, with the best one-year total at an outstanding $16,124.23 in March 2011. Last year, Lancers raised an impressive $15,355.18 through t-shirt sales, concession sales and the basketball tournament. The P.E. Department is challenging the Lake Park school community to achieve a new benchmark at this year's Hoops for Heart tournament on Tuesday, March 22. Please consider making a donation via the online fundraising page or visit the East Campus Hoops for Heart website. Thank you for the tremendous support!
