As 2014 approaches, VBSR would like to challenge our members to do the same with their ORGANIZATION's commitment to doing business differently. Start Your FREE B-Impact Assessment Today!
VBSR has teamed with B Lab to encourage members to utilize B-Lab's Business Impact Assessment tool! This free and confidential tool will help you measure your company's socially responsible business practices and compare them (anonymously) against thousands of other businesses. Measuring and recording socially responsible business practices will support a business's ongoing journey towards social responsibility and sustainability. Your customers and employees will appreciate your efforts as well! 'We manage what we measure.' This is one of the most basic truths in business. Our members also believe that we ought to measure what matters most. We invite you to join fellow members in this endeavor to measure and manage the individual and collective impact of our businesses.

Reduce Your Energy Dependence? 
Take the Business Energy Action Challenge!
 Just over a year ago, VBSR launched Business Energy Action, a FREE program designed to help businesses reduce energy consumption by 5% annually for 3 years.
Following the successful enrollment of 50 businesses in its initial year, Businesses Energy Action is inviting and welcoming the 2014 cohort of enrollees. 11 companies have already pledged to join the challenge for 2014 and it's not too late to join them. Click here join the challenge.
Participants in BEA receive:
- usage reports that compare your current energy usage (anonymously) with other participants
- recognition at special events and in news releases
- publicity for businesses who achieve the best results and reductions
- social media mentions and acknowledgement

Empower Others To Do More?
Weigh in on the Next Generation of Green Benefits!
VBSR member organizations tend to treat their employees differently. Whether through supporting and being early adopters of paid leave legislation and benefits, or allowing employees to have flexible schedules or bring their dogs to work, we know our members aim to treat their employees well.
At VBSR, we believe social responsibility and environmental sustainability go hand-in-hand. A growing number of businesses, in Vermont and elsewhere, are extending their commitments to social and environmental responsibility by offering "green benefits" programs to their employees. Green benefits programs provide employees with resources and incentives to integrate green practices into their personal and professional lives. VBSR is partnering with the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC) to explore this growing trend and is interested in hearing form you!

Need Some Extra Motivation?
We're Sweetening the Pot!
At VBSR, we take social responsibility seriously but we also know that our members live very busy lives, especially this time of year. With that in mind, we'd like to sweeten the pot a little. The first member organization to complete all 3 New Year's Resolutions* will receive $200 off a one year VBSR membership and be recognized in the next edition of E-news!
(And all member organizations that complete (and communicate) the three resolutions by 1/31/14 will be mentioned in E-News...)
*Once you've completed all three resolutions, send an e-mail to info@vbsr.org. Winner is the first to complete and communicate completion to us at info@vbsr.org. If you've already completed the Business Impact Assessment and/or taken the BEA energy challenge, you're still eligible to win, just check off the remaining item(s) as soon as you can and let us know! We will vet submissions and respond only to the winner. Good luck in 2014!
