Fighting Triple Negative Breast Cancer

A natural substance found in the surrounding tissue of a tumor may be a promising weapon to stop triple negative breast cancer from metastasizing.   A preclinical study published in the journal PLOS ONE by Thomas Jefferson University researchers found that decorin, a well-studied protein known to help halt tumor growth, induces a series of tumor suppressor genes in the surrounding tissue of triple negative breast cancer tumors that help stop metastasis.

Greetings!

Vicki Tashman Welcome to "Pink-tober!" This month, Breast Cancer Awareness comes to the forefront of products, services, even sports. Please remember that when choosing a "pink" item, make sure you know which organization will benefit from the money raised! Don't just accept "donated to breast cancer awareness." That's NOT an organization! It might say "funds donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure" or "National Breast Cancer Foundation," "American Cancer Society," Breast Cancer Research Foundation," or even "Pink-Link!" It MUST say which organization benefits or don't buy it! If you ask an employee and they don't know the answer, don't buy it! One of the companies that is donating to Pink-Link is our friend, Pink Wings. They have everything you're looking for during Pink-tober! Mention PinkLink20 in the comments box at check out and they'll donate 20% of your order to Pink-Link!

We held our annual fundraiser, "Tea for Tatas" on September 30th at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood and it was a great success! We ate fabulous food and were wowed by Jonna Tomases' performance in her 1-woman show, "Jonna's Body, Please Hold." Thank you to all the volunteers, donors and sponsors who made our event a success!

Do you know about the National Breast Cancer Coalition's drive to end breast cancer by January 2020? Learn more about it by visiting their website. You can download and sign the petition they've created and encourage your friends and family to sign it. NBCC will deliver the signatures to the President shortly after Inauguration Day, asking him to bring this nation's leadership, intellectual and creative forces to bear on a matter of utmost importance to everyone, around the world.

I hope you have a wonderful month ahead!

Sincerely,

Victoria Tashman

Treatment can bring Sexual Difficulties
Women treated for breast cancer after menopause with aromatase inhibitors have very high levels of sexual difficulties, including low interest, insufficient lubrication, and pain with intercourse. It is an important and underestimated problem, say the authors of a study published online in Menopause, the journal of the North American Menopause Society.  Read the article
