California Bookstore Day is Saturday, May 2!
Both Green Apple stores will be celebrating the second annual Bookstore Day on Saturday May 2.  There are two aspects: first, there are 16 unique books, art pieces, and gifts available ONLY from indie booksellers, only on May 2.  They're really special, and we expect to sell out of most of them by day's end.  Last year, there were folks lined up early (we fed them doughnuts).  More below.

Second, we're throwing all-day parties with special events morning, noon, and night.  Last year's Bookstore Day was the most fun ever had at Green Apple, and we're hoping to turn it up to eleven this year.

The Stuff
Chris Ware print

Literary tea towels, a graffiti stencil, a gorgeous infographic of essential books, several fine art prints, a literary map of the seas, stripey F*%k Throx, and, of course, books!  Many are signed; all are limited.

Think Roxanne Gay, Stephen King, Allie Brosh, Captain Underpants, Margaret Atwood, Lemony Snicket, Nora Ephron, Pat Conroy, Chris Ware, and more.    All the items are here.

No pre-orders or holds.  First-come, first-served.  We will likely restrict the quantity of any one item folks can buy to make sure everyone gets a shot at these gems.

Come early!

We are also pleased that John Waters gave Green Apple permission to make 150 of these broadsides to give away on Bookstore Day.  All you have to do to get one is post a photo at either store on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook with a #BookstoreDay hashtag. We'll have about 100 on Clement and 50 on 9th Avenue, and we'll start giving them out at 1:00 p.m.

(Props to Hope at Gutwrench Press for the lovely design and printing!)
