two special Green Apple events

We hope you'll consider joining the Green Apple community for one (or both!) of these truly unique events.

In a first for us, we've created a special dinner opportunity to meet chef Marcus Samuelsson.  Dinner, drinks, the cookbook, camaraderie--all at Nopalito in a private room.  Or a free event with the chef.  Details below.

And, a mere three months late, we're cutting the proverbial ribbon on our new store, Green Apple Books on the Park.  Trivia, giveaways, story hour, live music, beer, free books for the first 50 kids, and other surprises and delights. Read on for more about this grand opening!

We hope to connect you soon to your next favorite book; it's why we're here.

Marcus Samuelsson (two options)
We are delighted to offer you two opportunities to meet the charming and talented chef Marcus Samuelsson

For $100 you can be one of just fifty people to mingle and eat with the chef in a private room at Nopalito, across the street from Green Apple Books on the Park: "Street Style" Carnitas, Pollo al Pibil and Veggie Tacos, made fresh to order. Plus a copy of his new book and a couple of drinks.  And yes, of course, he'll sign it for you. Tickets are here.

Too rich for your blood?  At 8pm, chef Samuelsson will come to Books on the Park (1231 9th Ave at Lincoln) for a FREE  public meet-and-greet.  Bring him your kitchen questions, or just marvel in his sartorial splendor.
Grand Opening Celebration

Well, the paint has dried, the awning is up, and we've filled the shelves (twice over it seems).  We're thrilled to be in the Sunset, and we're showing our appreciation with an all-day party on Saturday, October 25!

Here's the tentative line-up.  There may well be other surprises, too.

11:00 a.m
Story time for the kids. We'll start the day reading some new children's books, including the very funny Book With No Pictures by B.J Novak. Plus light snacks for little ones.

The first 50 kids (ten and under) to arrive will receive a voucher (worth up to $10) good for any kid's book in the store, new or used.

12:00 p.m
At high noon, we're doing our Weird Book Raffle. As the name implies, this is your chance to get your hands on Green Apple's strange, eccentric, outlandish conversation pieces.

1:00 p.m
We're thinking treasure hunt--gift cards hidden in books (tentative!).

2:00 p.m
Travel through time with our Books From the Future table. Throughout the day we'll be giving away not-yet-published, advance reader copies of great upcoming books. Impress your friends by reading books unavailable to the rest of society.

3:00 p.m
Bring out your competitive side with Author Trivia. What did Shakespeare leave his wife in his will? What's Dr. Seuss' real name? What does it all mean anyway?

4:00 p.m
We probably will have a famous local author.  Can't confirm yet.  Check back!

5:00 p.m
The Roving Photobooth. Everyone knows about Green Apple's Staff Picks, but we wanna know about your favorite books. We'll be taking Polaroid pictures of customers with their choices, and building a "Community Picks" display. Have your face and literary taste immortalized.

6:00 p.m
There might be arm wrestling.

7:00 p.m
Did we mention that we'll have kegs running throughout the day? What's your favorite drinking game? Mine is the one where you just put the drink in my hand. I always win.

8:00 p.m
Local heroes and talented musicians Tino Drima will be playing us out.
