Angie's List has been around for a long time and grown beyond its Indianapolis roots in recent years to establish a national network. Depending on who you ask, people either love Angie's List or could care less if they closed their doors tomorrow. For me personally, I have been able to maintain an A rating through reports that customers have submitted over the last 13 years. As an advertiser with them, I will say that they are extremely expensive.
Other referral services have popped up that don't charge to be a member where people can get information on contractors. I actually got 2 jobs in September from homeowners who use Nextdoor.com, each from completely different neighborhoods.
A company that seems to have taken all of this to the next level is Porch.com. Porch is free to the consumer, but this web site is incredibly robust in what it can do for both the consumer and the contractor. I have joined Porch.com as a contractor and am in the process of loading job information and pictures onto my profile page. Here is the link for those that are interested and if you feel compelled to leave a review, all the better! I would appreciate honest feedback from anyone that goes to my profile page or actually creates their own account.

 | How Old Is Your Water Heater? |
If your water heater is 10 years old or older, you may want to consider having this replaced. Going back with another tank type water heater is one option, but one question that you have to ask yourself is: "Do I really want to heat water 24/7/365?" It doesn't have to be that way and can change by switching to a tankless water heater.
The Department of Energy (DOE) new efficiency standards go into effect April 16, 2015 which will apply to all residential water heaters. The bottom line is that the DOE wants water heaters to be as efficient as possible to save energy. Water heaters will get either bigger in diameter or taller from more insulation just to mention some of the changes. And the price for water heater will also go up, but at this point, no one seems to know by how much. Don't get caught in the last minute rush that may take place once the deadline hits, call or e-mail now to get more information. 317-248-9668 or david@heffnerplumbing.net
