Happy Veteran's Day to all of those reading this that have served or are currently serving in the military. As a Marine Corps veteran that has been deployed, I have a keen understanding of what it is like to be sent to a land thousands of miles away from family and friends. Thank you all for your service and sacrifice to this great nation of ours.
When I was the Commanding Officer for Central Indiana Young Marines, I used to tell the Young Marines that Veteran's Day is not just one day each year, but every day of the year. A kind word, gesture or simply thanking a veteran for their service can go a long way.
The NBC Nightly News "Making A Difference" segment on October 24, 2013 was on paying it forward and how people are doing this at drive throughs. Paying it forward or random acts of kindness don't have to be limited to fast food restaurants. Get creative, but take a moment to thank a veteran or do something nice for a complete stranger. You would be amazed at how good this feels and how this can impact the recipient of your kindness.
