Greetings!

The weather that we have had this week has been unusual to say the least and it is safe to say that the ground is more than saturated. Hundreds if not thousands of basements in Indiana have flooded over the past few days which can be an expensive and traumatic experience.

A customer that flooded on Friday did not have a rider on the homeowner's insurance policy for water damage from sump pump failure. As a result of this, they may be faced with paying for all of the damage to their basement out of pocket. This will include a new water heater and furnace. This rider can cost from $100.00 to $200.00 annually and is well worth the expense given the possibility of having to pay out thousands of dollars in property damage.

If you're not sure about having a rider for sump pumps, please check your policy or call your insurance agent.
Sincerely,

David Heffner
