Greetings!
My last e-mail spoke of the potential heavy rains of Hurricane Isaac. Not trying to time my messages around the big hurricanes, but Hurricane Sandy sounds like it will be devastating to the east coast if all of the predications come to pass. Let's all hope and pray that this does not happen.
Halloween is coming up this week. Be sure that the kiddos are dressed warmly and have a flashlight with them. Have fun!

Water and Hardwood Floors Just Don't Mix

I had a customer call me because the house had flooded from what he thought was the 1st floor half bathroom, but he wasn't sure. When I first walked into the house, I immediately noticed that the hardwood floor outside of the bathroom had begun to warp from the water damage. There was even more damage in the basement below.
After some questions, it was determined that the son had used the bathroom, stopped up the toilet and then the flapper for the toilet had stuck in the open position. This let water run continuously into the bowl and then onto the floor until the clog cleared itself.
I told the customer to call his insurance agent immediately and get a water damage company to come out with drying mats to try and save the hardwood floors. Hopefully he took that advice.
