DECEMBER 2015
2015 Nowhere Else Campaign
Essex Heritage is proud of where we live. With friends like you, we work to create a community who rallies around the thousands of historic, cultural, and natural places that were crucial in shaping our nation; the places that led to this region's designation as a National Heritage Area; the places that make Essex County like nowhere else.

As we set our sights on 2016, we are asking for your support so that we can achieve our year-end goal of obtaining support from all 34 Essex County communities, so that we may continue to directly reinvest in those communities. Make your mark on our map: please join or donate to the Nowhere Else Campaign online today.

Bakers Island Light Station

1936 Santa Flyover!
Fond memories of the famous Flying Santa and gifts from the Jubilee Yacht club are just some of the tales we've been told about the holiday season on Bakers Island. Former Coast Guard keepers have been kind enough to share these special stories.Check out this 1960s article from the Beverly Times.
Rollin', Rollin' On the River
Partnership Grant Spotlight

With Essex Heritage funding support, Lawrence Heritage State Park staff conducted free interpretive boat tours of the Merrimack River on eight Sundays during July and August. Offered in partnership with the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program, the 1-1/2 hour narrated tours focused on the natural history of the Merrimack River, early settlement of the region, and vital role the river played in Lawrence's industrial development.
