Summer Success!

Our first season is done -- and what a season it was! More than 1,000 people visited the lighthouse aboard our new landing craft Naumkeag, the exterior of the lighthouse was completely renovated, great progress was made on repairing the Assistant Keeper's House and both houses had instant hot water systems installed, new paths were cut through the underbrush and a rare rose mallow was found by the pond! Now that the houses are closed up, the boats are pulled, we're making plans for next summer. Stay tuned!

Partnership Grant Spotlight

With the goal of connecting summertime visitors to Gloucester's maritime traditions and unique ecology, Maritime Gloucester offered an enhanced variety of drop-in activities at its waterfront campus. Overseen by volunteers, the hands-on, experiential programming included knot-tying, rope making, sea-faring board games, navigation tools, "plein air" painting demonstrations, mini boat building, historic films, fish feeding, "mug ups" with local fishermen, mast rigging, fish filleting demonstration, animal artifact showcase and net making.
