A message from teacher Annie Garrett
Headed to Dubai next year for an academic adventure
Annie Garrett currently teaches Fourth, Sixth, and Seventh Grade English. She also serves as an advisor in Middle School.

My Dear Friends,

I am excited to announce that I recently received an opportunity to teach next year at an international school in Dubai. I will be teaching Eighth Grade Social Studies to a diverse group of students at the Universal American School of Dubai, UAE. While I will be following a Pre-IB American Common Core curriculum, my academic syllabus will be focusing on Middle Eastern history, current events, economic systems, global citizenship, and international diplomacy. Here is a link to the school's website if you're curious: http://www.uasdubai.ae/

I am both elated and devastated to share this news, as nothing has brought me more joy and fulfillment than teaching at ACDS. While I know this is only a temporary venture, the thought of missing even a moment of my students' intellectual, emotional, and spiritual growth is genuinely heartbreaking. However, I do intend to keep in touch, and Andy and I have already begun planning innovative ways to connect our students and to integrate global citizenship more actively into the ACDS curricula.

While I know I am entering many daunting unknowns, I also know that when I return, I will be brimming with new insights and a wealth of experiences to share with all of you from this complex and intriguing part of the world. Thank you all for your boundless love and support. I will miss you all immensely next year.

Sincerely,
Miss Annie

Note: For more details about next year in the ACDS classrooms, please mark your calendars for the "Move-Up Coffees" to be held the week of May 11. These sessions are for parents of students entering Kindergarten through Sixth Grade to meet next year's teachers and hear about the plans for the coming year. Children, too, will have a chance later this spring to have a formal visit to their next classrooms.

Stay tuned for exact times of the Move-Up Coffees the week of May 11
About: the Blue Green Tradition
& last chance to get early ticketing for the All-School Play

Field day teams -- named for the school colors -- are part of the independent school tradition since the start of the Country Day movement around the turn of the century. Intra-school teams are a fun way to build community and school pride.

QUICK! TRIVIA QUIZ: Blue and Green are the school's colors (Blue for the Colorado snow; Green for the mountain forests). But sometimes a THIRD school color is listed. What is it? Answer at the bottom of this email.

That's also the idea behind this year's Blue Green Night, a benefit evening for ACDS at Doerr-Hosier at the Meadows on Saturday, May 2. Parents, your children would never dream of missing a Blue Green Day, and you will not want to miss Blue Green Night!

Interested in a special perk -- one that disappears tomorrow at 5 pm? Consider becoming a "team sponsor." Regular tickets for the All-School Play don't go on sale until Friday morning, but sponsors at the $2,500 level and up can select seats now.

Click here to RSVP for the May 2 event or to become a Team Sponsor! Sponsors must sign up by 5 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31 to receive advance ticketing for the play
