About: 14 days of love for ACDS

In the days leading up to Valentine's Day, we are asking parents, children, teachers, alumni, and friends of our school to help us gather stories and get the word out about ACDS. What makes this school special to you?

Click here to share your reason OR post your own with #loveACDS on Facebook
We'll share the top 14 reasons on Saturday, February 14

Here's one that came in today:

Friends or siblings interested in ACDS?
Application deadline in two weeks
The application deadline for new students -- including siblings -- is Monday, February 16. This is now the only way to receive priority consideration for any classes where space may be available next year.
Many prospective new students and their parents have been visiting in the past few weeks. There has never been a better time to consider Country Day.
Reminder: about financial aid for the coming school year
The ACDS financial aid application deadline is February 9, 2015. Families who have previously received aid awards should have recently received this year's letter of instruction via email. We will not be sending printed copies this year. If you have not received the instructions electronically, please contract Gretchen Cole, Director of Admissions & Financial Aid by email or phone: 925-1909 x208. Thank you!

Dogs - love 'em, but leave 'em outside

Here's a quick reminder of our rules regarding furry friends
Dogs are not allowed in any buildings on the Castle Creek campus. Any dogs brought to school must remain outside, on a leash, under the full control of a responsible adult. Do not leave a dog tied up; no matter how friendly the dog, this poses a risk to children who may pass by. Please pick up animal waste. Thanks!
Jump Rope for Heart
As you may know, children at ACDS are participating in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association this year. Everyone has received a packet to take home (PE Teacher Alex Tiernan has more if you need one!). The packets have instructions on how to register online. Parents, ask your children about Jump Rope for Heart and help our students support this great cause.

Last week, children baked heart-healthy cookies with teacher Kim Bakker, filling the Lower School with the wonderful scent of cookies baking. All proceeds went to Jump Rope for Heart. How can you help? Ask your children, and get jumping!

Events of interest to ACDS families

Wednesday, February 11, at 5:30 pm is a delicious event -- a favorite of many ACDS families. The Chocolate Classic at the Hotel Jerome features desserts from many local restaurants; it RESPONSE, help for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Check it out and get tickets at any Alpine Bank or online by clicking here.

Saturday, February 7, at 6 pm, the Aspen golf course is all lighted up with luminarias to follow along as you cross-country ski along the trails for your "progressive dinner" from drinks, to appetizers, to soups, to desserts. All items come from local restaurants. It's a great community event that benefits the AVSC Nordic Team. Click here for tickets; ski rentals available on site.
Celebrating the Fourth Grade, now at 100%: who's next?

Today, February 2, congratulate the Fourth Grade class on having just reached 100 percent participation in the Annual Fund. They join the ranks of PreK Four, the teachers and trustees in being "all in" for ACDS.

The Annual Fund supports:
  • professional development for teachers
  • academic enrichment and support for students
  • financial aid for qualified families
