About the NLLD

The North Lafourche Conservation, Levee, and Drainage District (known as NLLD) was formed in 1992 to provide drainage and flood protection services for the northern portion of Lafourche Parish, including the entire parish north of the Intracoastal Canal. 

The District includes over 250 miles of levees and drainage canals, and over 40 pump stations.

Learn More About the
Lockport to Larose Levee Project
at Next Week's Meetings 

The NLLD invites you to join District representatives for informational meetings next week in the Lockport to Larose Project Area.
District representatives will discuss improvements that have been made to the flood protection and drainage systems from Lockport to Larose, as well as the NLLD's proposed plans for additional levee and drainage improvements in this area.

The Lockport-to-Larose Project includes major maintenance and re-sectioning of the levees from Lockport to Larose along the
40 Arpent Canal and Bayou L' Bleau.
Ultimately, this project could provide a levee with a height of 7.5 feet above sea level throughout its length.
WORK AROUND THE DISTRICT

 
Lockport to Larose Project Area 
The NLLD contractor has wrapped up work on the Storm Surge Protection Levee at Allied Shipyard in the Larose area. This project included construction of approximately 700 linear feet of earthen levee and installation of two floodgates by Sealevel Construction, Inc. The total project cost was $434,584.00.


 

 

Gheens Project Area  
The NLLD is utilizing the District's Cat/Wilco Amphibious Excavator to perform maintenance dredging in the Mathews Canal with the assistance of a Lafourche Parish Office of Public Works equipment operator.

 

 

Thibodaux - Lockport - Bayou Blue Project Area    

The NLLD used the District's Volvo/Weco Amphibious Excavator to remove trees that were obstructing drainage in the Cyprien Reservoir Canal near Raceland with the assistance of a Lafourche Parish Office of Public Works equipment operator.
