PROJECT UPDATE:
Levee Improvements in Valentine Area
The North Lafourche Levee District (NLLD), along with additional equipment and operators from the Lafourche Parish Department of Public Works, is using the District's Liebherr dragline to tie the improved levee into the existing flood protection levee in the Valentine Area heading towards Larose.
The improved levee is nearly complete from this point going up the Bayou to the Parr Pump Station where it again ties into the existing flood protection levee heading towards Lockport.
The District is gearing up for public meetings to provide area residents, landowners and businesses with information concerning further work being considered by the NLLD. The District's immediate goal, if practical, is to continue working in a southerly direction to make improvements to the existing flood protection levee from the above tie-in location continuing towards Larose.
Visit NorthLafourcheLevee.com and our NLLD Facebook page for more information on this and other projects.
