Warm Greetings!

The stunning quilt above uses the fun Gradations fabric from Elite. Isn't it beautiful? One bolt contains different shades of an entire color, so you can get darks and lights from the same fabric! Genius! Even the background grey is shaded. This quilt measures  58" x 82".  Stop into the shop to see it in person - it's hard to do it justice in a photograph.  See below for another amazing quilt out of the gradations fabric too.

Here we are in the dog days of summer, and as school starts up again, we turn to thoughts of Fall quilting activities. September is a busy month here at the shop getting ready for Edyta Sitar. We can hardly wait! If you haven't signed up for her bed turning, be sure to call.

I'm excited to announce that we have a new toy for you!  We have the Martelli deluxe cutting table up in the loft. It is fully adjustable both in height and in angle, so you can tilt it towards you for  a fully ergonomical cutting experience. We also have the unique and ergonomic Martelli cutters for you to try out. Spend a day quilting in the loft with us and try them out!

We have revamped our beginner classes to be tailored to your needs. The first class is focused on getting to know your machine and practicing a 1/4" seam. The second class is for those who are familiar with their machine. In this class, you will make a simple table runner and put your basic skills to practice. We're adding a third beginner class to learn half square triangles and stars.

Check below for more info on all this and more.

Happy Quilting!

Basics Session I
Tuesday, September 13  7 - 9 pm
Instructor: Trix

NEW FOR BEGINNERS!
And we are talking about REAL beginners here! These are things that will NOT be covered in our Beginning Quilt Classes, so if you do not have this knowledge, be sure to take this class!

When we start our Beginning Quilting Classes in October, we will expect you to know how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and sew a straight, consistent inch seam.  If you need help with these basics, this is the class for you.  If you have a new machine (or an old one) that you aren't comfortable with, this is a chance to get some help.  We are not an expert on every machine out there, but we've sewn on a lot of different sewing machines over the years, and with your machine manual, we can figure it out!

At this first session you will learn machine parts and functions, threading and winding a bobbin and sewing a basic 1/4" seam. Hands on- bring your machine!

Level: The very beginner who may not have even taken their machine out of the box or is not familiar with how to use their sewing machine.

Cost:   $20

Basics Session II
Tuesday, September 20  7 - 9 pm
Instructor: Trix

NEW FOR BEGINNERS!

This class assumes you know how to use your sewing machine and can sew a reasonably straight 1/4" seam. (If not, take our Basics Session I class above!)

This session will polish your new quilting skills by making a 10 Minute Table Runner. This hands-on class will teach basic rotary cutting, utilize your seam skills, and you will finish a runner (it may take more than 10 minutes the first time!)

Bring your own machine, and the manual for it.  If you cannot find your manual, let us know the brand and model of your machine, and we'll try to help find something.

Level: The very beginner who knows how to use their machine and can sew a reasonably straight 1/4" seam.

Cost:   $20 + fabric from Quilt Haven on Main

We intend to finish the quilt top, and you have the choice of learning to quilt it yourself, or sending it to a long-arm quilter. Follow up classes to finish the quilt will be scheduled after the first of the new year.
