The Lower School Just Moves
Implementing An In-Class Physical Activity Program
Coach Beylo recently launched the Just Move program in the kindergarten through fourth grade classrooms. Just Move is an in-class physical activity break program that delivers short bursts of movement throughout the school day. The program offers easy ways for our teachers to seamlessly integrate learning objectives with physical activity. Just Move is part of a larger obesity prevention initiative, Choosing Healthy & Active Lifestyles for Kids. Not only does this program help fight obesity, but it also stimulates the students' minds for increased learning. Let's move!

The Kindergarteners Search for Their Naughty Gingerbread Men
"Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!" After making and baking gingerbread men, two naughty ones escaped the oven and took off. Mrs. Acosta's and Mrs. Lambrechts' kindergarten classes went on a search around campus looking for the very mischievous gingerbread men who played tricks on them and made a mess.

Girls Varsity Basketball Earns League Title Second Consecutive Year
Rosarian Wins Palm Beach Independent School Athletic Conference Championship
After an undefeated 2012 season, the girls varsity basketball team stepped on the court this year ready to play and defend their Palm Beach Independent School Athletic Conference Championship league title. Under Coach Jameson Olsen, the girls hold a 25-1 record over the last two years with back-to-back championships.
Both the semi-final and final tournament games were nail-biters as the Raiders won each game by one basket. Led by team players, Phoebe Cook (8th), Tara O'Brien (8th), Kate Driscoll (7th) and Harper Murphy (7th), Rosarian defeated The Benjamin School in the semifinal game 20-19 and won the championship game against Palm Beach Day Academy 19-18--after being down by one with less than a minute to play.
When asked what makes the Rosarian basketball team stand out, Coach Jameson Olsen said, "The girls played hard all season and never gave up in any game. The difference between my team and others is that the Rosarian Raiders know how to finish games. They have the will and drive of champions."
Congratulations girls varsity basketball team!

Internationally Acclaimed Tenor John Matz Takes Stage with Rosarian Show Choir
Home for Christmas: Holiday Benefit Concert
From performing with the Washington National Opera and the Opera National de Bourdeaux to performing at Rosarian's Theater, internationally acclaimed tenor John Matz stole the show as he sang with the Rosarian Academy Show Choir on December 12th.
When John sang "I'll Be Home for Christmas," every member of the 250+ audience felt the warmth of "home" that Rosarian Academy gives each of us. There couldn't have been a more beautiful combination than the contrast of John's booming operatic voice with the soft angelic voices of the 42 Show Choir members accompanied by Mrs. Gay Dedo on the piano. Songs like "Mary Did you Know", "Pie Jesu," and "You Raise Me Up" touched the hearts and moved every person in the house.
We are most grateful to class of 1992 alum John Matz for returning home to give his time and talent to our school and community by performing this Holiday Benefit Concert to support Rosarian's Theater and Arts.

Rosarian Donates Over 1,000 Toys for Less Fortunate Children in Palm Beach County
2013 Holiday Toy Drive for Palm Beach County Health Department
Giving is definitely better than receiving. That's the lifelong message that Rosarian Academy hopes to teach each of its students through the various service opportunities offered throughout the year. But there's an even greater focus on serving and giving during the holiday season in preparation for Christmas Day. For over ten years, the seventh grade class has led the school-wide effort to collect unwrapped toys for needy children in our community who may not otherwise receiving anything for Christmas. After spending two weeks collecting toys, on Monday, December 16, Rosarian students loaded a Palm Beach County Health Department truck with toys that will make over 1,000 children happy this Christmas.
Norma Williams, Volunteer Services Coordinator for the Palm Beach County Health Department, expressed her gratitude to Rosarian students, "Without these donations, some children may never receive a toy. We are so grateful for Rosarian's generosity." The Health Department distributes the toys to children in Palm Beach County who are currently benefiting from their services.
