NEWS FROM NASPAA

2014 NASPAA Annual Conference:
Registration is now open for the 2014 Annual Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico! The conference will feature nearly 80 breakout sessions, joint activities with APPAM, a reception on campus at the University of New Mexico, and pre- and post-conference activities. View the preliminary agenda!

NASPAA is offering 3 pre-conference activities, including an all-day Accreditation Institute, an afternoon workshop on Academic Support and Student Services, and an afternoon workshop on Cases and Simulations; all of these activities are free with your conference registration. Note that these preconference activities will occur on Tuesday, November 4, so if you plan to attend, please make arrangements to vote early or absentee in accordance with state laws. After the conference, on Friday, November 7, NASPAA is organizing local events and activities for you to explore the area. Please consider staying in New Mexico through Friday to participate in a hot air balloon ride, a trip to Santa Fe, and a tour of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Preregister for these events on your conference registration form.

Conference program ads and exhibit tables are still available, contact Emily Reineke to reserve one for your program. Emily can also answer any questions you have about the conference.

Nominations for Executive Council and Vice President
The NASPAA Nominating Committee is accepting recommendations for nominations for five members of the Executive Council and for Vice President/President Elect. All positions will serve a three-year term, which begins in October at the Annual Conference. Recommenders should note that Council positions require a significant commitment of time and effort on the part of the individual as well as support from his or her institution.

Individuals wishing to make recommendations to the Nominating Committee should send an email to the Committee's chair, Jack Knott, at [email protected] (with a CC to NASPAA Executive Director, Laurel McFarland, at [email protected]) by Wednesday, September 10, 2014.  View the full details.

Apply to host the 2015 NASPAA Career Professionals Conference!

NASPAA is seeking a school to host the 2015 Career Professionals Conference. The host school has tremendous opportunity to shape the agenda and move the conversation forward on many issues that career professionals are facing. The host school will also receive publicity and exposure to the greater NASPAA community as the school will be identified in all promotional materials. Traditionally, this conference has been held in December on a campus, but the selection committee will consider off-campus meetings locations as well as alternative dates. Selecting the 2015 host institution this fall allows next year's host site staff the chance to attend the 2014 conference in a more intentional way and better anticipate their own hosting duties the following year. View the full details about how to apply.
