Asplundh Adds Autogas

Asplundh is one of the first in the vegetation management industry to adopt propane autogas in its fleet.

Currently, Asplundh operates two Ford F-650 autogas trucks � a bucket truck and a chip dump truck. The company�s director of fleet services says propane autogas was their answer when searching for a cost-effective alternative fuel that had existing refueling infrastructure and met their environmental initiatives.

Autogas ROI Calcs

The Propane Education & Research Council released an online and mobile calculator to help fleet managers determine return on investment and fuel savings by switching to propane autogas. By inputting a few numbers, the calculator will compute the cost savings of propane autogas compared with gasoline or diesel.

Maine Schools Replace Diesel with Propane Autogas

This fall, Sanford (Maine) Schools received 31 new propane autogas powered buses. The buses, which replaced their old diesel fleet, were selected to save the district money and to reduce harmful emissions.

�The incentive to the district was the reduced cost of purchasing propane versus the high cost, and the rising cost, of diesel offset by the lower maintenance costs for the new fleet,� said Gregg Stinson, vice president of operations for Student Transportation of America, which contract the buses for Sanford Schools.
