When Do the Excuses End?

Greetings!

How high do gasoline prices have to climb before Americans have had enough? In Detroit, we are paying some of the highest prices ever at $4.18 per gallon. That's higher than San Francisco at $3.97, but less than Chicago - at a whopping $4.48 per gallon.

I hear a lot of educated guesses when it comes to fuel cost spikes: "Spring cleaning" at the refineries. Mother Nature. High demand for summer-grade gasoline. Mid-east turmoil. The strong hold of OPEC.

When will we challenge the status quo? When will we realize that our country is sitting on an energy goldmine of our own with decades worth of propane and natural gas supplies? For a nation known for innovation and leadership, it continues to astonish me that we allow our wealth to be exported to other countries. And, in turn, compromise our own national security.
