What Happened to American Innovation?

Greetings!

As Americans, we consider ourselves to be at the forefront of innovation compared to the rest of the world. Unfortunately, when it comes to alternative fuels, many countries are way ahead of us. Did you know that there are more than 17 million vehicles powered by propane autogas in the world today? But only 270,000 of those operate in the United States - that's less than 2 percent of all passenger vehicles!

Natural gas shale plays are abundant in the United States. These produce 72 percent of the propane supply, which is why the U.S. is set to export around 5 billion gallons of propane this year, up from 2.5 billion gallons last year. In 2015, we will export more than 10 billion gallons of propane. At the same time, we are importing almost 4 billion barrels of foreign oil, which means we're sending more than $380 billion American dollars overseas.
