How I Spent My Summer Vacation?

Okay, it is a little late to be planning summer vacations. In fact, for many of us school will be starting in a little over a month. (YIKES!)  The start of school also means the start of Fall Church School programs. We have told you lots about the our denomination's new curriculum Growing in Grace & Gratitude for ages 3-10.  Remember, if you would like to look it over to come into the Resource Center at the Presbytery office.

2015-2017 Book of Order Orders

The Presbytery of WV office will be making a one-time order of the

2015-2017 Book of Order at a reduced cost. Individual and church orders can be made by contacting the office at  (304) 744-7634 or Office@wvpresbytery.org.  The deadline to place orders is July 16th! The cost per copy will be no greater than $9.50 but may be less depending on the number of order requests received. The charge for shipping is a flat rate so the more books ordered, the less the shipping cost per book. An electronic copy is also available for download for free from the PC(USA) website.

Orders will have to be picked up in the office or at the August 29 meeting of presbytery. We will not be mailing orders to churches since the additional postage costs to churches will negate the bulk order and shipping rate

Centsability Offering

Many thanks to all those who regularly send in their congregation's Centsability Offerings to address the issue of hunger here in WV.  We have dispersed funds in the form of grants for community gardens, for food pantries and for summer backpack programs to feed hungry children.  We are ready to disperse more funds as soon as more come in.  There is always a need and when the need is known the church always responds.  Thanks you for your continuing support.  If you have not yet gotten involved in the Centsability Offering just give the Barbara Chalfant at the presbytery office a call.

Hunger Webinar

August 3  12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

God's Concern: A Biblical reflection on Hunger

Hunger is both a physical and a spiritual reality in the Bible. It is a marker of our human dependence on God and on others for health and well-being - as others are dependent on us. In our Bible study we will consider God's concern about and provision for the multi-layered hunger that is a reality of our life together. Join the Hunger Program and Barry Ensign-George, Associate for Theology in the Office of Theology & Worship, as we reflect on hunger in the Bible and our call to respond to God's concern.

Synod
Rhythm of the Synod

It's a common response for non-Christians to look at a catastrophe and ask, "If God is all-powerful, why would God allow something like that to happen?" In a very small way, "something positive" in the wake of a tragedy is what occurred during the summer Synod of the Trinity Assembly Meeting.
