A Letter from PWV General Assembly Commissioners GA

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  Romans 15:13  (Theme of the 221st General Assembly)

Your General Assembly Commissioners and Advisory Delegate worked diligently on the business before us, and are grateful you provided us this opportunity to serve the presbytery and the denomination.  We look forward to sharing at the August presbytery  meeting about exciting ongoing programs and new initiatives happening in the PC(USA) -- ministries that could enhance and enrich the work of our congregations and call us to new fields in which to labor.   We all left Detroit "Abounding in Hope!" for the future of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and for our presbytery.

Pastoral Letter from GA PastoralLetter
To the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.):

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The 221st General Assembly (2014) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) adjourned today after a full week of discussion, debate, prayer and discernment. The week also was enveloped in worship, celebrations, fellowship and glory to God. The Assembly, anchored on the theme "Abound in Hope" (Romans 15:13), was a resounding confirmation that the PC(USA) is alive, well, and fully engaged in being faithful to God.

Tough issues were tackled and challenging decisions were made. These actions were not done lightly, and
each commissioner and advisory delegate carefully and prayerfully worked in committee and as a full
body in plenary. Now, over the next two years, members of the 221st Assembly and other leaders in the church will be about the business of interpreting and guiding people through the decisions made. We hope you, too, will be ambassadors for the Assembly's work, and we offer ourselves and our colleagues as
resources.

Harless Center at Central Place Opens May, 2015 Harless
Since 2007 members of the Harless Center board of directors (formerly Westminster House) of Morgantown have been working to bring a faithbased
residential option to the West Virginia University community. We are excited to announce that this will come to fruition in May, 2015 with the opening of Harless Center at Central Place www.HarlessCenter.org. The plan will not only bring safe, high quality student housing, but also will provide a hospitable environment that includes programs that allow students to be grounded in their faith and grow in understanding of other faith and belief traditions...

2014-15 National Youth Advisory Board Applications Available AdvisoryBoard

After a year on hiatus as we relocated our headquarters, we are excited to announce that the applications for the 2014-2015 National Youth Advisory Board are now available

Each year Souper Bowl of Caring selects a group of high school students (rising sophomores, juniors and seniors) from across the nation to serve in a leadership position, learning about service and philanthropy while lending their voices to our mission and leading their own communities in the fight against hunger.

NYAB requirements include attending two mandatory meetings organized by Souper Bowl of Caring at its headquarters in Houston, TX. The youth also serve as spokespeople for the media and act as ambassadors for the organization, sharing Souper Bowl of Caring with others in their communities while offering ideas on ways to continue growing the movement.

To get involved, please apply or share this information with an outstanding young person today. To learn more, visit tacklehunger.org/nyab.
