James Watt spent twelve years perfecting the steam engine. William Harvey worked for eight years to demonstrate how blood circulated in the human body, then for another 25 years trying to convince the medical establishment. Most of us underestimate the time it takes to achieve anything of lasting value. You've got to be willing to pay your dues. Cutting corners is a sign of impatience and poor self-discipline. The secret of every breakthrough is to follow through.

Albert Gray says, 'The common denominator of all success lies in forming the habit of doing things that failures don't like to do.' If you find yourself continually giving in to your moods, you need to change your approach to doing things. To do this, you must set standards for yourself that require accountability. Suffering a consequence for not following through will keep you on track like nothing else. Once your new standards are in place, work according to them, not your moods; that will get you going in the right direction. Self-discipline is a quality that's won only through practice. Successful people have learned to do what doesn't come naturally. They are willing to confront discomfort, distractions and doubt, and act in spite of them.

RH Macy, founder of Macy's department stores, failed at five different professions - whaler, retail clerk, gold miner, stockbroker, real estate broker - before he finally succeeded. When asked what sustained him through failure after failure he replied, 'Purpose and persistence.' That's what separates those who achieve from those who merely dream! It's why Paul wrote: 'Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time' (Galatians 6:9)

God bless you.

Walking with the Church

Why do we use candles at Mass and at other religous ceremonies?

The Romans used candles for a number of civic and religious occasions. However lights have

been used by every religion as far as humankind can remember. Light, and especially a flame,

signified for humankind life,

hope, joy, divinity - almost

everything that we consider good. The early Christians placed them in front of tombs of deceased members of the Christian community and also in front of the images of martyrs and other saints. They symbolize Christ our

light and hope in our future

resurrection. Candles have been

used at Mass since the 7th century.

I BELIEVE

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born
A Death Certificate shows that we died
Pictures show that we lived!

Have a seat . . .  Relax . . ..  And read this slowly.

I Believe...
That just because two people argue,
it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt
you every once in a while and you must forgive them for t hat.

I Believe....
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.  Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.
I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with
loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.
I Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I Believe.. .
That we are responsible for what
we do, no matter how we feel.
I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I Believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything ~ or nothing ~ and have the best time.
I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you
when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I Believe....
That sometimes when I'm angry, I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I Believe...
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others;
sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself..
I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same
thing and see something totally different...
I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of anything

Laughter the best medicine

Pants Dilemma

A young man came home from the office and found his bride sobbing convulsively. "I feel terrible," she told him. "I was pressing your suit and I burned a big hole in the seat of your trousers."

"Forget it," consoled her husband. "Remember that I've got an extra pair of pants for that suit."

"Yes, and it's lucky you have," said the woman, drying her eyes.

"I used them to patch the hole."

Sister Repair

My sister has the courage, but not always the skills, to tackle any home repair project.

For example, in her garage are pieces of a lawn mower she once tried to fix. So I wasn't surprised the day my other sister, Pam, and I found our sister attacking her vacuum cleaner with a screwdriver.

"I can't get this thing to cooperate," she explained when she saw us.

Pam suggested, "Why don't you drag it out to the garage and show it the lawn mower?"

Dear Dog

I am so sorry about you being sent to the dog pound for the broken lamp which you did not break; the fish you did not spill; and the carpet that you did not wet; or the wall that you did not dirty with red paint.

Things here at the house are calmer now, and just to show you that I have no hard feelings towards you, I am sending you a picture, so you will always remember me.

Best regards,

The Cat

Devotion to the THREE AIL MARY'S

The devotion of the THREE HAIL MARYS is a very simple yet most efficacious devotion.

Everyday, recite Three Hail Marys, adding the invocation: "O Mary, My Mother, keep me from mortal sin." Many people recite the Three Hail Marys as part of their morning and night prayers. To practice this devotion in time of danger, stress, special need or temptation, is a sure means to obtain Our Lady's help.

I am grateful to Our dear Lord, Our Lady and Don Bosco for the safe C section of our daughter and the gift of a healthy baby boy. Thank you for always protecting our dear family and for the many blessings bestowed on us. Mrs.Corrie, NY

Thank you, Mother Mary for helping me find a new job. Christopher,NJ

It was Wednesday October 29, 2014. I was reciting the Legion of Mary Teresa prayers when I suddenly heard a loud noise. A part of the wooden frame from the ceiling (5 feet long) had fallen on the floor at the feet of my four year old grandson. He was bending and looking at it absolutely unhurt. It was the miraculous intervention of Our Blessed Mother who protects and looks after her children as she looked after her son Jesus. Thank you Mother Mary and continue to protect us always. P. Fernandez, NC
