Board Honors Outstanding Journalists, Richard Lobo 
MBN President Brian Conniff accepts award on behalf of Bashar Fahmi.
BBG Chairman Jeff Shell, along with Governors Matt Armstrong, Michael Meehan, and Ken Weinstein, hosted an agency-wide staff meeting on November 18 where they recognized the 2013 David Burke Distinguished Journalism Award winners from each of the BBG networks and presented a Distinguished Honor Award to IBB Director Dick Lobo. BBG Networks Win AIB Awards
The Association for International Broadcasting honored Radio Free Asia and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty at its Media Excellence Awards ceremony in London on November 6. RFA won the top prize in the Innovation Production Technology category for its e-book "Remembering Tiananmen," and RFE/RL was highly commended for its investigative radio documentary "Victims of 88 (AKA 2009)" and its short feature "At Afghan Brickworks, Family Trapped in Cycle of Debt." BBG Networks Offer Insight and Information on Iran Nuclear Deal
Following days of negotiations in Geneva with six world powers, Iran agreed to curb some of its nuclear activities in return for limited sanctions relief. VOA's Persian Service provided early and extensive live coverage and RFE/RL provided expert analysis.
Governor Matt Armstrong Travels to Meet Network Staff, Conduct Outreach    
BBG Governor Matt Armstrong recently traveled to Prague and Los Angeles to meet with BBG network journalists and directors, local politicians, journalists and students. From October 30 through November 1, Armstrong was at the RFE/RL headquarters in Prague, and from November 21-22, he visited the Voice of America bureau in Los Angeles, spoke with students of public diplomacy at two universities, and met with the leadership of The Los Angeles Times digital team.
RFA Unveils e-Book of Jailed Uyghur Writer Yasin's Writings
On November 12, Radio Free Asia launched an e-book collecting the writings of Nurmuhemmet Yasin, an award-winning Uyghur writer whom Chinese authorities sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in 2004. The collection, Caged, has been made available for the first time in digital format in the English and Uyghur languages for iPad and Kindle. It includes Yasin's allegorical essay "Wild Pigeon," the original publication of which led to his arrest and jailing, in addition to other writings and audio content. Read More

TV Mart� Airs Hacia la Democracia II, Featuring Lech Walesa
On Sunday November 10th, TV Mart� aired the second edition of Hacia La Democracia (Towards Democracy), a half-hour program focusing on the transition from totalitarianism to democracy. The episode, which featured analysis by former Polish president and human rights activist Lech Walesa, examined the opposition movement in Cuba and the work yet to be done by civil society to bring about a democratic change. Read More
VOA and RFE/RL Mark Kennedy Anniversary With Rare Interviews
On the 50th anniversary of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, RFE/RL aired comprehensive reports that charted Lee Harvey Oswald's time in Minsk.

Meanwhile, a rare interview with the U.S. Secret Service agent who jumped onto the back of President John F. Kennedy's limousine in the moments after he was shot in 1963, highlighted a powerful new VOA TV special marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination. 
VOA Afghan TV Program Links Kabul and Washington Studios
Voice of America and Channel One TV (1TV) in Afghanistan are teaming up on a high-tech, international town hall style television program that will address critical issues in US-Afghan relations. Read More

Lobsang Sangay, the political head of the Tibetan government-in-exile, renewed his call for China to find a resolution to the Tibetan issue through dialogue.
