The Fear Factor of Buying a Franchise
Author and Philosopher Bertrand Russell once said "To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom."
Buying a franchise is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make, so feeling fear is not only normal, it is entirely appropriate to the situation.
Who has fear? Everyone! Fear prevents us (most of us, anyway) from jumping out of a moving car or going over a waterfall in a barrel. Fear helps us make choices that are less likely to endanger our lives. Fear also prevents us from gambling our life's savings on a horse race or marrying someone we've known only a few days. However, when we feel we have enough information about a subject, we can often get over fear and do things that were beyond our comfort zone. If you are one of those people who has done your homework and found the franchise opportunity you've always dreamed of but can't seem to commit to a decision, then the final doubts you have are probably about your own abilities rather than the franchise itself. This is where a qualified franchise consultant can help you. By assessing your interests, skills and experience, a consultant can guide you to a decision where risks are at an acceptable level and the benefits, while not certain, are well worth the effort. The only problem with fear is when you allow it to stop you from doing something you know will make a positive difference in your life. Don't let fear stop you from reaching your goals!

House Doctors
Cash Needed: $55K
Total Investment: $89K-$128K
Total Locations: 47
House Doctors started in 1995 as a "first mover" in the professional handyman industry. Today, as well as offering professional handyman services, the company is again leading the way with the introduction of online scheduling, new product installations, and an increasing number of home improvement options for the growing "do-it-for-me" society. Whether you need a handyman to perform a minor task like repairing a leaky faucet or you need help with a more involved project such as remodeling a bathroom, no job is too large or too small for a House Doctors home improvement professional.
The House Doctors' small business model means that you can be home-based or located in a small commercial office/warehouse. As the population and housing stock ages, House Doctors' franchisees are offering more and more handyman and light remodeling services to commercial companies as well as the growing market of aging baby boomers and busy professionals who don't have the tools or the know-how to do the work themselves.
House Doctors' franchisees don't swing the hammer, they are managers who have a comfort with property repairs and light remodeling. If you feel you could manage a team in a growing niche, now could be the right time for you to consider partnering with House Doctors. Today, this franchise opportunity offers easy affordable entry to those looking for business ownership in a huge market that is growing.

Experimac
Cash Needed: $50K
Total Investment: $130K-$140K Total Locations: 5
Experimac was started out of Jim Muir's garage, who wanted to offer customers top-of-the-line electronics equipment such as Apple products, but at an affordable rate. Jim began purchasing used electronics equipment such as computers, cell phones and tablets to buy, repair and sell. Jim opened his first retail location in West Palm Beach, FL in 2009. The store quickly became highly successful, so Jim asked his four sons to join the team in order to help provide the best service possible while developing long-lasting relationships with the customers.
Experimac is a one-of-a-kind concept. No one else specializes in selling pre-owned Apple products and accessories, making repairs, taking trade-ins, and selling software and system updates. New Experimac franchisees have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor with this innovative concept, selecting the best areas available and gaining local trust before others come on the scene.
Experimac is invested in their franchisees' success. To help franchisees achieve the greatest amount of success possible, Experimac offers industry-leading training, support through regional offices, assistance with marketing techniques, the advantage of mass purchasing power, a location-specific website, the guidance of the concept structure, and industry know-how.
Experimac franchisees don't have to be tech industry experts, as franchisees receive extensive training and support. Franchisees attend a two week training course in West Palm Beach, FL during which time Experimac support teams begin to set up the new franchise location. Upon completion of the training course, franchisees travel to the new location to begin operations and receive on-the-job training. Experimac support teams help franchisees hire employees, set up their franchise location, and begin operations while providing advice and guidance to ensure the franchisee's success.

Virgola
Cash Needed: $50K
Total Investment: $155K-$242K Total Locations: 1
Virgola - Oysters & Italian Wine Bar specializes in fresh, raw oysters and offers a variety of crudo, caviar and imported salami & cheeses. Virgola features an exclusively Italian wine list which is highlighted by their own Virgola Prosecco & Virgola Spumante Rosè.
Virgola is a unique dining experience established in Manhattan's Greenwich Village that is expanding its business operations by offering franchises throughout the United States. Twenty years in the restaurant industry led the owner, Joseph Marazzo, to create a distinct oyster bar concept that has gained local and national media attention. While vacationing in a coastal town near Rome, Joseph was inspired by his first serving of oysters. When he returned home, he was determined to build a place where he could recapture his experience on the beach, even if in a dramatically different setting. He discovered and personally restored an 1800's alley in the heart of Manhattan's Greenwich Village, where he opened Virgola - Oysters & Italian Wine Bar.
Virgola's innovative cocktails and exclusively Italian wine list, takes you on a tour of Italy. Affordably priced oysters, for which Virgola has become known, accompany selections of crudo, caviar and imported Italian specialties - all carefully curated and produced in a heat-free kitchen.
Initially one of Greenwich Village's best kept secrets, Virgola's success has led Mr. Marazzo to franchise the Virgola - Oysters & Italian Wine Bar concept nationwide.

What is an Area Representative or Master License?
Some franchises have opportunities known as Area Representative or Master Franchise Licenses. An Area Representative License involves the development of a geographic region that can be as small as a single city or as large as an entire state; while Master Franchise Licenses are normally reserved for the development of an entire country. You purchase the right to develop a designated area and share in the franchise fees and royalties with the franchisor. You work closely with commercial real estate agents, business brokers and consultants in the development of your area. The investment needed to secure an Area Representative or Master Franchise opportunity can start as low as $150K depending the franchise, the size of the population and the geographic area.
