The Fear Factor of Buying a Franchise
Author and Philosopher Bertrand Russell once said "To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom."
Buying a franchise is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make, so feeling fear is not only normal, it is entirely appropriate to the situation.
Who has fear? Everyone! Fear prevents us (most of us, anyway) from jumping out of a moving car or going over a waterfall in a barrel. Fear helps us make choices that are less likely to endanger our lives. Fear also prevents us from gambling our life's savings on a horse race or marrying someone we've known only a few days. However, when we feel we have enough information about a subject, we can often get over fear and do things that were beyond our comfort zone. If you are one of those people who has done your homework and found the franchise opportunity you've always dreamed of but can't seem to commit to a decision, then the final doubts you have are probably about your own abilities rather than the franchise itself. This is where a qualified franchise consultant can help you. By assessing your interests, skills and experience, a consultant can guide you to a decision where risks are at an acceptable level and the benefits, while not certain, are well worth the effort. The only problem with fear is when you allow it to stop you from doing something you know will make a positive difference in your life. Don't let fear stop you from reaching your goals!

PostNet
Cash Needed: $60K-$80K
Total Investment: $170K-$212K Total Locations: 266
PostNet offers full-service digital printing, design and marketing services for local business customers. They provide everything from business cards, brochures, banners and vehicle graphics to signage and direct mail. They also offer marketing solutions including email marketing, and website creation and even logo design.
Commercial printing generates about $83 billion in annual revenue. Epicomm - the Association for Leaders in Print, Mail, Fulfillment, and Marketing Services - expects sales to continue to increase, but notes that the gains will disproportionately go to companies that embrace new technologies and opportunities to serve customers. That growth is largely driven by printing demand from small and medium-sized businesses - PostNet's customers. N ew PostNet franchisees will receive seven days of classroom training, then five days of on-site training just before their launch to refresh their knowledge, answer any questions and ensure that their new business enjoys a smooth opening. Sixty days after their franchise location opens, the PostNet support team returns for two more days of on-site training. You don't need a background in graphic design, digital printing, or shipping to succeed with PostNet. The essential skills that go into running a PostNet franchise are project management and business-to-business networking. From the start, PostNet's business model is designed to minimize overhead so a new franchise owner can become profitable quickly, thus ensuring a successful business.

Fractured Prune Doughnuts
Cash Needed: $100K
Total Investment: $144K-$270K Total Locations: 24
Fractured Prune Doughnuts is a specialty shop for doughnuts that has been an Ocean City, MD landmark since 1976. It has been a tradition for many doughnut lovers, far and wide. What makes their doughnuts so special is that they are created by you. The doughnuts come out hot and crispy on the outside and light and moist on the inside. Then the doughnuts are dipped in one of their homemade glazes and topped with an assortment of delectable toppings which are all chosen by you. Fractured Prune Doughnuts was named after the spunky Prunella Shriek, known as "Fractured Prunella" for the broken bones she suffered from competing in traditionally men's sports even into her 70's. Fractured Prune Doughnuts celebrates her legacy with a doughnut as individual as the person ordering it, offering always hot doughnuts, any and all ways.
To be considered "Prune Worthy" to own a franchise, you do not need experience in the restaurant business, but you do need to have a passion for their product, an entrepreneurial spirit, great customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the belief that a "Fractured Prune Doughnut" experience is absolutely the best experience!

What is an Area Representative or Master License?
Some franchises have opportunities known as Area Representative or Master Franchise Licenses. An Area Representative License involves the development of a geographic region that can be as small as a single city or as large as an entire state; while Master Franchise Licenses are normally reserved for the development of an entire country. You purchase the right to develop a designated area and share in the franchise fees and royalties with the franchisor. You work closely with commercial real estate agents, business brokers and consultants in the development of your area. The investment needed to secure an Area Representative or Master Franchise opportunity can start as low as $150K depending the franchise, the size of the population and the geographic area.
