ARLINGTON, Va.- KGD Architecture (Kishimoto.Gordon.Dalaya PC of Rosslyn, Virginia) announces it has hired Aileen Horn as Director of Hospitality.
Aileen joins KGD with over 20 years of hospitality design experience. In addition to carrying out projects from conceptual design through construction, she established the LEED project management practice at her previous firm.
"Aileen was a natural choice for this position, given her two decades plus of hospitality architectural experience in major US markets including Washington DC and New York" said KGD Principal Manoj Dalaya. "But what really sets her apart in the industry is her commitment to sustainability, which is a must-have for most hospitality projects being designed and delivered today. We look forward to growing our hospitality practice with Aileen at the helm."
Among the many projects in which Horn played a significant role was the Fairfield Inn & Suites at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The hotel was certified LEED Gold, the first hotel in both the city and Marriott International's Fairfield Inn & Suites portfolio to achieve the certification. The project won a Special Recognition Award from U.S. Green Building Council Maryland; a Wavemaker Award from ULI Baltimore; and a Green Development Award from the Baltimore Business Journal. Horn has also served as a proposal reviewer for the Greenbuild International Conference and spoke about sustainability at a University of Virginia School of Architecture alumni event.
Aileen received her Master of Architecture from Columbia University and BS in Architecture from University of Virginia. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is a LEED Accredited Professional with BD+C (Building Design and Construction) specialty. She is also an accomplished oil and silk painter and member of Silk Painters International, appearing in exhibitions across the Mid-Atlantic and New Mexico.
KGD Architecture has been active in the hospitality sector for over a decade; its most recent project was the public spaces renovation of the Mill Road Marriott Residence Inn in Alexandria, Va. for Miller Global Properties. Prior to having Horn join the firm, the principals of KGD have designed hotels such as the Lansdowne Conference Resort, Omni Dallas Hotel at Park West, Residence Inn Alexandria Old Town, and the Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel.
On a separate note, KGD Architecture was recently selected as the architect for a new ground-up hotel project in the Virginia Square area of Arlington, Virginia for the Schupp Companies of Vienna, Virginia.
