Knight Family Named
Library Champions of the Year!
Representative Duane Milne presenting a citation from the Commonwealth to Dave and Lisa Knight.

The Easttown Library Foundation named the Knight family as Library Champions for 2013.  Dave and Lisa Knight have a long history with the Easttown Library. By their own account, the Knights are a family of book lovers, and visit the library often. Their daughters grew up borrowing books from the Easttown Library both for school and for pleasure, and they always enjoyed the summer reading programs and "Science in the Summer."

Foundation President Denny Leeper noted that he became better acquainted with Lisa through her service on the Endowment Planning Committee. "Both Dave and Lisa are champions of Easttown Library," he said, "and we are grateful for their involvement and support. They have contributed to the Easttown Library in ways both tangible and intangible."

In accepting the award for her family, Lisa said "We've been inspired by others' foresight and generosity, and want to be part of helping ensure that the library can consistently provide an amazing range and quality of services to the community. Thirty years ago, we never imagined all the tools and devices we have in our library today: wireless internet, e-readers and online research of all types of information. But now we use them daily.

"We don't know exactly what our library will look like thirty or fifty years from now, but we do know it will be here and it will continue to evolve and meet the  needs of the community. And it's important to do whatever we can do now to ensure that.

"We're not being honored for a huge financial gift.  We're being honored  for making a new commitment -- to the endowment.  I think that what matters is not the dollar amount but the act of making the commitment to the future."
