On Thursday, October
 |
Pennsylvania Senator Ted Erickson and Easttown
Library Foundation President Denny Leeper looked on
as Library Director Alan Silverman accepted the check
from Patty Barthel of Waste Management.

3, Pennsylvania Senator Ted Erickson came to the library. Senator Erickson wanted to acknowledge Easttown Library Foundation's first EITC donation from Waste Management, Inc. This contribution will be used to support expanded science programming at Easttown Library for youth (K-12). Waste Management's EITC donation was made possible by the Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program which allows eligible businesses to make donations to participating educational nonprofits in exchange for tax credits.

Youth Services Director Becky Sheridan to Retire
 | |
Becky with Library Director, Alan Silverman
|
Becky Sheridan has announced her retirement from Easttown Library after 12 years as our Youth Services Librarian. Friday, November 1 will be her last day.
When Becky began in Youth Services, Easttown Library was located the cafeteria wing of what had been the Berwyn Elementary School. During the design for our new library facility, Becky assisted in planning the expanded children's and young adult collections. Becky enhanced the scope and quality of programming and collections in Youth Services during her tenure. An important aspect of Becky's work was the many valuable partnerships she developed with other educational institutions in our community. She also served on the board of trustees of FLITE (Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin/Easttown), further strengthening the relationship between educators, families, and the Easttown Library.
When asked what she her lasting impression of her time at Easttown Library will be, Becky answered,
"Many things come to mind, but what has meant the most to me is that we support all of our customers in so many ways. During my years here, I have watched the babies who attended my first Wee Readers class in 2001 grow to become middle school students. Other youth I have known have grown to become teen volunteers at the library and then gone on to college. I have become very close with many of our parents, caregivers, grandparents and library associates. I have gained so much more than can be imagined from the relationships formed through the library and I leave with warm feelings and best wishes for all I have known here."
On behalf of the Easttown community, we wish Becky all the best of health and happiness.
Join us on Friday, November 1 to express your appreciation and say farewell to Becky.
