New LED Lightning
We hope you have noticed the new, brighter lighting in various parts of the library. Over 40 new LED fixtures were recently installed. Since LEDs use much less energy than other lighting technologies, the newly installed fixtures need only half as much electricity to produce light as the fluorescent fixtures they replaced. Further savings are achieved because these fixtures do not have bulbs or ballasts that need to be replaced periodically, which reduces maintenance costs. The money saved will be allocated toward achieving the library's core service goals, such as programming and adding new books.
