Easttown Library Saddened By The Loss of a Friend
The Easttown Library Board of Trustees, the Foundation Board and staff are deeply saddened by the loss of Barbara Robinson. Barbara embodied the library's mission. Her ability to communicate her love of reading and writing to library users and our community was second to none. A Berwyn resident, Barbara was a nationally recognized author who was best known for her books for children, especially The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and
The Best School Year Ever. An important part of the fabric of Easttown Library since the 1970's, she served on the Library Board of Trustees as secretary from 1973-1981. Barbara was a major donor to the capital campaign that led to the construction of the current library. When it opened in 2003, she inaugurated the Barbara Robinson Story Time Room by reading one of her stories to a group of children and parents who gathered for the occasion. On her birthday in 2008, Barbara was recognized by the Easttown Library Foundation as a library champion for her service and ongoing generous financial support. We honor her enduring commitment to the written word and the Easttown Library. Click here for a recent article about Barbara that appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
