BREAKING NEWS

Allegations force Kell head coach Craig Hines' resignation

Kell girls basketball coach Craig Hines is no longer with the team amid hazing allegations, first reported by wsbtv. Alexia Clarke's daughter is on the team and first filed a complaint after seeing and hearing things about Hines and the program. Clarke stated that bullying and intimidation was facilitated by the Cobb coach.

"It's frustrating because we the kids have the right to know. We entrust the Cobb County school district to look after our kids when we send them there," said Clarke.

The school district is classifying it as an internal disciplinary matter but Channel 2 Action News did obtain a letter saying the district is taking "appropriate disciplinary action" against Kell High Coach Craig Hines.

Kell finished 14-14 this past season but carried a 10-3 region record into the playoffs. Hines also coaches the boys golf team and his wife Lauren is heavily involved in Kell's athletics.

Lauren is wrapping up her 25th year of teaching in the Cobb County School District and has spent the last nine years with the Longhorns. Her coaching positions include Boys & Girls Track (4 years); Girls Golf Coach (5 years); JV Volleyball (6 years). Lauren was head volleyball coach for two years before handing over the position to Jessica Kasprowicz this season.

CORKY KELL NEWS

Media coverage continues growth entering 23rd Corky Kell Classic

The Metro PCS Corky Kell Classic's growth over the years has gone hand and hand with the increasing media attention the event has drawn. As Georgia's most successful football programs embark on new seasons and the future college talent dotting each roster steps into the spotlight, the media coverage continues to match the scale of what has become the nation's biggest opening week football event.

Last year was the first time that SportSouth televised the games and the record-setting audience witnessed some of the best games the event has seen. 92-9 The Game covered the

games for the second straight year and provided radio coverage both online and with its powerful signal that spans well beyond the perimeter.

"Having the largest sports radio signal in North Georgia, we have a responsibility to deliver the best in live and local content to our listeners. We believe the Metro PCS Corky Kell Classic fits this goal perfectly," said Terry Foxx, 92-9 The Game Program Director.

The aim to provide the best content to its audiences is what continues to attract so many different media outlets to the Corky Kell and Georgia's football prominence and wealth of talent draws interest throughout the southeast.

"As it is our mission to deliver the best in local sports across the Southeast region, we think high school football should play a part in that equation, and especially so in Georgia," said Jeff Genthner, Senior Vice President and General Manager of SportSouth on what it means to cover the Corky Kell Classic."

247sports and Rivals will be two of the many recruiting sites returning to cover all the storylines and top individual performances during the seven games and will also keep up with the bevy of college programs that will be lining up on the sidelines to get an up-close look.
