Bremen girls win third straight region title
The Bremen girls went perfect in Region 5-AA for the third straight year to complete a threepeat of the region crown.. The team has not dropped a set in region play the past three seasons and topped Temple in the semifinals before cruising past Bowdon in the region championship match.
Bremen is led by junior Charli Allen (8-5) at No. 1 singles, freshman Lucy Hughes Parrish (10-3) at No. 2 singles and four-year starter Emily Cheshier (12-2) at No. 3 singles. Cheshier earned the 50thwin of her career last week against Columbus.
Senior Alexis Nappi and junior Elizabeth Knott are 10-4 at No. 1 doubles, a spot they've held for three years. The freshmen team of Rachel Forrister and Hannah Love are 7-1 at No. 2 doubles.
During the season Bremen finished second in the Peachtree Invitational, beating Class AAAAA McIntosh and Allatoona before losing to Class AAAAAA Roswell in the title game. The Blue Devils are 44-7 over the last three seasons under coach Heather Clark.

Buford clinches top seed in playoffs
Buford (20-2, 12-0) wrapped up at least a share of the Region 8-AAAA this week with a 17-0 win at Johnson-Gainesville on Monday.The Wolves will wear the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Class AAAA state playoffs, which begin Friday, May 1.
"We may have had a season or two like that way back when," Buford coach Tony Wolfe told the Gwinnett Daily Post. "Even back (during the Class AA state championship season of) 2011, we didn't clinch until the last day of the (regular) season at Blessed Trinity. Things kind of just fell right for us (so far this season)."
