WEEK 9 PRIMER
By Craig Sager II
Week 9 to see playoff atmosphere state-wide

Another weekend of region action will help paint the postseason picture across the six classifications. In Class AAAAAA, undefeated Colquitt County heads to Valdosta to take on the 7-0 Wildcats. The winner will clinch a playoff spot and be in the driver's seat of the Region 1

title. Colquitt County has made it to the semifinals five straight seasons, but the Packers have made their playoff runs on the road. Just three of Colquitt County's last 21 playoff games over the last five years have been played at home. The road to the Georgia Dome may finally run thru Moultrie if the Packers can take the Region 1 title.

In Class AAAAA, Brunswick and Coffee meet in a critical region battle. Brunswick won the matchup 26-19 last year and will look for freshman Randon Jernigan to continue sparking the offense under center. Region 2 is locked up with Houston County, Northside-Warner Robins and Warner Robins with one loss apiece. Jones County, Evans and Lakeside-Evans each have two losses. Jones County faces Houston County and Northside faces Warner Robins.

Class AA will see some of the top teams square off. Undefeated Vidalia visits No. 2 Benedictine and looks to avenge a 28-0 defeat last season. Fitzgerald and Brooks County sets up another top 10 matchup with two teams vying for the top seed out of Region 1.

Perhaps the most anticipated region game comes out of Region 4-A with Hawkinsville at Marion County. Marion County beat Hawkinsville 14-10 last year in the regular season and dominated in their semifinal tilt 40-7. The Red Devils are 7-0 under third-year head coach David Daniell and have a team capable of dethroning the Marion County.
