RASHAD ROUNDTREE
By Craig Sager II
Elite Junior nets 5-star ranking

Lakeside-Evans safety Rashad Roundtree has been upgraded to a 5-star prospect by Rivals. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior has skyrocketed in the recruiting rankings following an outstanding junior season and a standout performance at the Elite Junior Classic All-star game this past December. Two weeks after the Dec. 28 game, Roundtree was offered by UGA.

After Lakeside's run to the Class AAAAA playoffs, Roundtree closed in on triple-digit

tackles and was instantly listed as a 3-star prospect, but he is sitting much higher now. According to the Augusta Chronicle, Roundtree has been invited to this year's Under Armour All-America Game and is ranked 17th in the nation for all Class of 2015 prospects.

Roundtree has received offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio State and many others. The safety's appearance in the inaugural Elite Junior Classic was spent with his Lakeside-Evans teammate and fellow defensive back Stephen Houzah. Houzah is another top recruit out of the Class of 2015 and this duo will be a main attraction under Friday's Lights this fall.

Here's Roundtree's recruiting recap after the Elite Junior Classic:

"Roundtree will be one of the top safety prospects in the state of Georgia coming out of the Class of 2015. Roundtree is already labeled a 3-star recruit with an offer from Duke and UGA on the table and stands 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Roundtree's size and presence was felt in the Elite Junior Classic and he was successful in coverage against the big North wideouts and also when matched up man-to-man with Archer's 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end Connor Redmond on a deep corner route. Roundtree plays like a linebacker in the ground game and steers quarterbacks away from testing him with his unique combination of size and athleticism. Expect him to be one of the most coveted prospects in the country before kickoff in 2014."

HAWKS VISIT CENTENNIAL
By Brian Jones
Mike Glenn entertains School of the Week

On Thursday, the Hawks traveled up GA-400 to hang with the students of

Centennial High School. The reason the Hawks as well as the National Guard were at the Roswell school was to honor them for being named "School of the Week."

The ceremony took place at Centennial's pep rally where they honored the senior winter sports athletes. Former Hawk and current Hawks Live analyst Mike Glenn spoke to the students and congratulated them for being chosen School of the Week. Glenn then introduced the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleaders, who proceeded to give away t-shirts to the crowd.

Sgt. Hudson, the National Guard Centennial recruiter, was introduced shortly after the cheerleaders had their fun. Glenn then thanked Hudson and the rest of the National Guard for the work during recent winter weather emergencies. Hudson went on to speak to the students about how the National Guard can help students with college plans.

Afterward, Hudson presented Centennial principal Kibbey Crumbley with an autographed basketball signed by Glenn and current Hawk Lou Williams. The event ended with Crumbley taking a shot from half-court only to hit Harry the Hawk instead of the basket. Harry the Hawk then shot the ball from half-court over his head and missed the shot by just a few inches.

The School of the Week award is presented by the Hawks and the National Guard. Each week the Hawks will recognize a school in the Atlanta for its work on the field and in the classroom.

For more information on the Hawks' work in the community, go to Hawks.com, then the community section for a calendar of events. For more information on what the National Guard does or how to become part of this elite group, go to nationalguard.com.
