Visit with Rare Sportsfilms

in Indianapolis at the

"Indy Motorsports

Memorabilia Experience"

Rare Sportsfilms has been exhibiting its video productions at Indianapolis the day before the "500" for more than a quarter of a century!

Once again this year, we will have a booth at the IMME racing show and we hope you'll come on out to visit with us.   Find us at the Indy Motorsports Memorabilia Experience on Saturday May 23 in the Pavilion Courtyard near the Pagoda in the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.   We'll be located in the far corner of the room, 8AM-4PM.       Click this link to get more info about the show.

Rare Sportsfilms President Doak Ewing says, "Any racing fan who appreciates the history of the Indianapolis 500 and is lucky enough to be in Indianapolis during race week should not miss the fun of visiting the greatest assemblage of racing memorabilia and artifacts in the country - all right inside the track all day Saturday.   You'll find racing photos, yearbooks, racing magazines, trading cards, old toy and model race cars, driver autographs, old pit badges, 500 ticket stubs, programs, DVDs on past 500s, books on the 500, driver uniforms, helmets and even vintage paving bricks from the original track which has come to be known as 'The Brickyard'!

I'm looking forward to displaying our DVDs and seeing old friends and new collectors alike in the back corner of the room all day Saturday!   At this show you will meet the most knowledgeable dealers and collectors on Indy 500 memorabilia in the country".

SEE YOU MAY 23rd - at Indy!

"BENCH RACING WEEKEND"

in Indianapolis!!

Five former Indianapolis drivers, along with dozens of serious Indy 500 racing fans and racing Old Timers had a terrific weekend of fun recently at the annual "Bench Racing Weekend" gathering at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis. Paul Goldsmith, Bob Harkey, Eldon Rasmussen, Johnny Parsons and Sarah Fisher were reunited with fans and Sarah was interviewed on stage by famed Indy racing historian Donald Davidson (see pictures below).   On Friday night Barb Hellyer showed videos of old open wheel races and all day Saturday Doak Ewing showed actual vintage films of the 500 from years gone by, most of which are not available on DVD from any source. In the lobby on display were two of the cars driven in the 500 by Harkey, one restored by Gary Mondschein and the other by Bob McConnell.   Saturday morning featured a talk by Director of Engineering for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Kevin Forebes on the recent changes taking place at the track. Following that was a tour of the Carpenter Fisher Hartman race shop in Speedway, then a tour of the Dallara Indy Racing Experience next door.   Besides the movies, a vendor area at the hotel was open all afternoon, as well as a hospitality room where Harkey held court telling racing stories and answering the questions of fans in attendance.   Serious Indy fans call "Bench Racing Weekend" a 'must attend' yearly Indianapolis racing event! The organizers have a new website at www.indybrw.com. Check it out and plan to attend in March of 2016!
