This is a rare presentation - one of the very oldest truly complete NBC TV World Series broadcasts, not just including every pitch of the game, but every second of the original broadcast, the entire pre-game show and all original commercials, pitching changes and post-game. In addition, a menu gives a choice of either watching the game while listening to TV audio (Mel Allen and Al Helfer) or radio audio (Bob Neal and Braves broadcaster Earl Gillespie)! A fabulous keepsake of early televised World Series baseball!
Running time: 2 hours, 32 minutes

Another behind-the-scenes WTBS production on the 1984 Braves, produced in similar style to "Long Way To October" released earlier by Rare Sportsfilms). Cameras follow Bruce Benedict, Brad Komminsk, Terry Forster and Bob Watson from spring training thru the end of the season. Braves key injuries and the big brawl vs the division-winning Padres are highlighted. Bob Watson's last M.L. game and at-bat plus Dale Murphy's private presentation in Joe Torre's office at the end of the season all included.
Running time: 1 hour, 39 minutes

After a losing season in '60, the Bears acquire QB Billy Wade and add Rosey Taylor and Dave Whitsell for 1961. But the most important addition to the club is a surprising rookie who shows great NFL savvy right from the start - an excellent receiver and even better blocker who would become a Bear legend in the years to come - Mike Ditka!
Running time: 1 Hour, 6 Minutes, B & W.

The story of the '61 Black Hawks and the 1961 Stanley Cup Finals, Black Hawks vs Red Wings. Also includes the 1951 NHL All-Star Game and "A Half-Century of the NHL", a history of the league even before 1917 thru the mid-1960's.
Running time: 1 Hour, 36 Minutes,
mostly B & W

DEFINITIONS
A "Complete Game" need not contain any original commercials, pre-game or post-game footage. A "Complete Game" however must include every pitch of the baseball game or every play of the football game, otherwise it is referred to as a "Partial".
A "Complete Broadcast" refers to a complete game including every second the event was shown on the air, including pre and post game and all original commercials.
WHAT IS A "COMPLETE GAME"?
Among sports DVD collectors, the term "Complete Game" or "Full-Game" should refer only to a TV broadcast which contains every pitch of a baseball game or every play of a football game. Maybe to most, this would appear to be common sense, however I have often come across references to certain vintage broadcasts that are referred to as complete, when indeed they are missing pitches and sometimes even an at-bat or more, IE: 1967 Red Sox vs Twins last weekend of the season pennant showdown. In football Super Bowl III, which is missing a Colts drive late in the game, is another example. I believe the reason for the misrepresentation is that even partially existing broadcasts from before 1965 in baseball and 1961-1974 in NFL football are so scarce that most collectors feel lucky to be able to watch most of a game or even part of a game without being picky as to whether the game is actually complete. This is fine, as long as we give proper recognition to the few games that are complete, as they are TRULY a rarity. (The 4-6 original kinescope reels which were required to hold a single game usually got lost or scattered through the years, so that if even a partial game was found, it was usually only a reel or two at best).
This being said, there are complete game broadcasts that are even more rare - those with the original commercials still intact! Even fewer are complete games not only with commercials, but also containing the pre-game and post-game shows! All of which brings us to one of this month's newest offerings - the "complete broadcast" of the 1957 World Series, Game #1! Not just a complete game, or even a complete game with all commercials, but every second of the original NBC program, starting from the moment the Armed Forces logo appears on the screen! Then the first Toni hair spray commercial before the Gillette Cavalcade Of Sports opening is seen and the pre-game show begins with Mel Allen. Finally, all of the post-game commercials, comments and NBC credits at the very end of the telecast are still intact! I am currently doing research to see if this is the oldest complete baseball game TV broadcast in existence! Fascinating stuff for the serious collector to think about!
